I actually call around to local studios and talk to who ever answers the phone. There are a few here in town that have a lounge.
Also it helps to be friends with the number one studio owner in town (New Times #1 at least 11 years running)
But I digress. I just talk to lots of people at the local music store, the owners and hangers on at the boutiques (My favorite is "The Bass Place" here in town. My last 3 bands I hav ebeen in i was called out of the blue by people I met in clubs, studios and music stores.
