  1. So I've had my SSV3 for a year now - wow - definitely went through some learning curve to get it dialed - but this is one amazing little unit - have used it for solo piano, mostly use it with different live bands, with the little and low angled amp stand on it's side within a couple of feet of me - that way I hear myself most and don't hurt any of the other players... at home I hook it up to my C2 via a small mixer (the C2 output is HOT!) and my original ventilator as well as my AI ten2 as a sub - PHAT sounds... thank you Aspen!
  2. I ordered this from SW Thurs, selecting the free delivery option. Arrived at my house Friday morning, gigged with the SS sideways on this stand Sat. night on another crowded stage. Amp was about 5 ft. from me, in back slightly to the left. I was stage right again. Best band mix yet!The band and I all could hear me great. Organ on top octaves of VR-09 was not as ear piercing at high volumes as when the amp was straight up but was very clearly heard. EP's sounded great. AP sounded a bit harsh with just me and the SS at high volumes during set up but later meshed with the band (Tom Petty Tribute) beautifully! As a matter of fact this was the best I have ever been able to hear myself play in a band situation. It definitely makes the gig more relaxing and more enjoyable when you can hear what you are playing and know that the audience can as well! thanks so much for reposting - just ordered mine - been loving my ss - haven't been on the forum for a while - amazed to still see this thread still on page one... guess there's no end to the conversation...
  3. the fazioli XL has become my go to piano - it didn't do it for me in mono through the AI ten2, but with the SS it's pretty awesome! and Dave - would love to hear your thoughts on the SS run post your special pre-amp if you get a chance to try that configuration... played a semi out door gig last night in a covered courtyard with a column in the middle of the stage area - SS was a couple feet behind me - I have taken to always traveling with my 1'x2' plastic bi-fold to reduce the variables of the venue - singer (on the other side of the column) wanted me to turn up but I already felt like I was blasting myself - realizing now that another option could be to turn the SS away from myself so I am not in the direct line of fire... audience comments were positive...
  4. I tried it, ended up being too muffled for my taste although in retrospect I could have played with the SS eq's... how'd it work out for you?
  5. Aspen's the man! Thanks for the insightful report Dave - hope you encounter better room acoustics the next time you try... the other thing I've been playing with to improve my own perception of the "bloom" is to get the space station as far away from myself as possible - even got a fresh pair of twenty foot cables for just that purpose - my bifold baffle also seems to help when there's a bunch of stuff on stage...
  6. Good catch Mike, correction made, thanks! "Just place your SS3 facing directly into a corner, about 1-2 feet away, thereby creating a poor man's Klipsch horn." Proving once again, I really shouldn't post before my morning coffee! tried that - too muffled for my taste... anyone else try?
  7. it's now sunday night thereafter and no word on how the test run went - hmmm, speechless are we? looking forward to the full scoop Dave!
  8. nice write up - kind of nails it... tempted to link to some friend key players that have not heard mine yet, but then again, feel like I'm
  9. thanks for sharing that - I'll have to play around with the mids and trebles on my AI-ten2 that now serves on occasion as my sub...
  10. Id be happy to arrange a loaner Dave, I'll PM you with my contacts. hopefully under the condition that you provide a full report to the forum Dave... looking forward to hearing about your discerning experience!
