  1. I have streetlytron on iPad. The green version. IDK how much better a tape or the digital HW can be but streetlytron is pretty great plus I get around 3 octaves instead of 2. I can nail Court of the Crimson King all day. Now if I can only find a band remotely interested in playing that music. All the bands around here want to play sharp dressed man. And the dum crowds are happy with that too.
  2. OTOH I've never been impressed when an orchestra tries to replace a mellotron. 20 violins sawing away on Kashmir comes to mind.
  3. Ok so that's where the Tron comes from but where does it get its Mello and is that where Donovan got his Mello Yellow? Quite Rightly.
  4. The next generation of kids will have chips in their heads and view digital content like the terminator. I also doubt they will have as much interest in playing 1970s keyboard styles as we were as kids wanting to play 1870s banjo jazz.
  5. Sometimes that void spot in the middle is software related. My A800 is very responsive in the middle on some apps and slow on others. It may not be the Roland's fault.
  6. It's probably just a momentary switch. Lots of midi loop pedals have amp switching via per patch. My decibel 11 switch doctor has it.
  7. Personally I don't think anyone needs a $250 di, especially for live sound. For a recording date yeah that avalon preamp I see everywhere probably is better than the guitar center brand DI box. I still wouldn't blink if I went to a studio and they used $40 Di boxes if the playback was good.
  8. UK Nick Foleys videos are similar to Jack Duxbury in that they are only meant to be quick first impressions like what it would be like if you unboxed a keyboard and just got 10 minutes to get a couple of sounds before it was time to go. Like if you walked into Andertons and saw it on the wall. Which is what it's like in most music shoppes. If you want depth go to Sonicstate.
  9. A di box with a 20 dB pad might help. It's the pad not the other stuff that's would possibly help. A stereo pad wouldn't really be cheaper than a di box with pads so you might as well get the di box. I got a stereo di box from monoprice for about $40.
  10. For jazz I was going to say Tony Monaco. For blues or soul, I don't know. Nobody seems to have anything that useful online other than some useful tips by Mike Little and a few others,, but nothing that answers my many questions. Plenty of gospel like modern black church praise break stuff which I like but doesn't help at all playing blues or soul in a club band. You almost have to get in a band and carve it out yourself.
  11. I used vb3 for years and then more years. The only complaint I have with vb3 is the distortion is very hard to get just right. It seems to be gainstaged in a weird spot that crackles a little bit if you want that slight grit. If B3x wasn't so fantastic and if the first vb3 was on iOS, I might still be using it. And no, vb3.2 and vb3m aren't better. Vb3.2 has a weird synthy sound I have trouble dialing out. And vb3m is good but non tweakable.
  12. First thing is the drawbar module doesn't even have a standard midi connector. It uses some proprietary mini din thing with I don't know how many pins. I think by the time you got done figuring out the hex assignments and remapped stuff, if even possible you could have gotten a D9u from GMI Labs and be done.
  13. That's wrong. I have controllers from arturia, novation, nektar, roland, korg and others. They all work with ios.
  14. Any KB controller will work but you need a so called Apple camera kit to get USB A. I'm unaware of any midi controller that outputs via USB C. Plus an iPad with USB C needs a audio adapter so you will need a USB hub and sound adapter.
