  1. Sorry for a late response, but I had some family stuff I had to attend to. Regarding the things you can do to a Classic 30, is that something I should email you about? I've heard of a Blue Mod, but don't know anything about it. Just leave it alone. They are fine stock and not worth doing expensive upgrades as the return is negligible.

  3. A lot of folks make the claim I have blueprinted the amp. Ask where they are located. If not in So Cal it is probably not true as the amps can only be blueprinted with the owner/player present for the entire process. I have had folks drive amps out from Chicago, Nashville, Texas and Alaska but don't recall any of those non-local ones being a Classic 30. Find out the original owner's name. Amp serial number too. I keep files on every amp I ever touched. Get the date of blueprinting if possible or a copy (photo) of the paperwork that is supplied with every blueprinting job. The reasons for the paperwork are to have a record of how things were, how they changed and to show that the amp was indeed blueprinted. The seller should take a photo of the paperwork and post it in the listing. It's someone in Garden Grove, but I don't need another one. I was just wondering what you can do to a C30. It already sounds pretty good. I installed a set of JJ's and a Weber Blue Dog, but you know how we are, always looking for more. Thanks Scott
  4. Good morning Myles, I'm always looking for what's for sale and I ran across this on ebay. They claim that you blueprinted this particular Classic 30 and if that's the case, what would that amount to? I have two of them and was just wondering. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Peavey-Classic-30-1X12-Tweed-Tube-Amp-/181395118704?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a3bfdda70 Thanks Scott
  5. Good point. Thanks. The size issue here and incompatibility with a large number of known and popular amps are indeed bad enough red flags... The Ruby EL84CZ and JJ EL84 (same tubes, different labels) are an excellent tube that can be had in matched duets and quartets for reasonable prices from the likes of Doug's Tubes and KCA NOS Tubes. I can't believe how long a of GT branded quartet of these has lasted for me, and they made my amp sound a LOT better, too! I found some Rubys yesterday at my local mom and pop, The Fret House, and road tested them last night and the Classic 30 never sounded better
  6. Hi Myles, what do you know about these "New" Tung-Sol EL84s? I saw someone asking about them on another thread for their Classic 30. http://tubedepot.com/ts-el84.html Thanks Scott
  7. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothings ever too loud for me, even after all these years, but some of the places I play are pretty small sometimes.
  8. Good afternoon Myles, In order to reduce power in a four EL84 amp , Peavey Classic 30, can you remove 1 or more of the tubes to obtain this without hurting anything? I've heard of being done, but have never tried it. Thanks Scott
  9. I purchased a early 90's Peavey Classic 30 not too long ago and not to long after I had it the Blue Marvel speaker gave out. I installed a Celestion 70 80 I had lying around. My question is, I have another speaker that I would like to try, but it's only 8 ohms and the amp calls for 16 ohms. I've heard conflicting stories and was wondering if it will damage the amp if install the 8 ohm speaker? Thanks Scott
  10. Hello Myles. I have a Blackstar Club 40 that's about 2 years old and I've really been happy with it, however it seems as though the clean channel breaks a little sooner than it used to. If I replace the ECC83 preamp tubes with something else, will that help? I was looking at the 12AX7 Tungsol Reissues. Thanks Scott
  11. Hi Myles, I was wondering if you know of any insurance companies that handle liability insurance for groups. One of the cities here in So.Cal. asked if we were covered. Thanks Scott
  12. Scott, Call Norm's Rare Guitars in Tarzana and ask for Jeff Lund and talk to him. Talked to Jeff Lund, great guy, and he said that Pro re-finish would be the way to go. RS Guitarworks was his recommendation and being outside of Cal, they can use the right lacquer Thanks again Scott Thanks again
