  1. Had the board about a week and half. First show will be next week. Love it so far! Great sounds, easy to use, and it's so light! Seems to be everything I was looking for. The keybed is bouncy! Took a little bit to adjust for me but now, no problems at all Thanks again for everyone's help!
  2. Thank you all for your help. It was insightful and the advice you gave led me to purchase a Kurzweil SP6-7. While I couldn't physically try it out, from what I read, saw on videos and the user manual it seems to check all of the boxes and then some. And weighs under 20 lbs! Thank you all for your input - also Thanks @Dave Weiser You helped me out with the Casio PX-5s back in the day which is why I took your input into serious consideration. The SP6-7 arrives Monday - can't way to discover more with it. Hope to have it operational for our next gig in early December. If anyone can suggest forums specific to the Kurzweil SP6-7, please let me know. Thanks again!
  3. The organ is fine and good enough for me. I appreciate everyone's input so far. Budget is about $1K - $2K but would prefer the lower amount. I've learned that I don't need the bells and whistles - just good sound and easy functionality. And easy to carry!
  4. My Casio PX-5S has been a good workhorse for my weekend warrior life. Unfortunately, it's starting to go. Key sensors are failing resulting in loud notes, no sound and/or double notes. Always at the worst time! I tried blowing air into the problem keys with no luck. Looking to replace the board with a new/used one and could use some advice. - Use Mostly as a duo - Sounds - I typically use the major patches programmed in the keyboard. I don't create my own but do alter a little bit with eq. I don't use a computer or virtual sound - Need a strong piano, decent organ, electric piano, strings - nothing needs to be too fancy - Keybed - used to the Casio but adjusting hasn't been a problem - Needs to be lightweight - I don't typically use splits and layering much anymore. too much of a pain on the Px-5s I've had a number of keyboards. Loved the Korg SV-1 ease of use, sound and playability. However, I got rid of it as it \was too heavy and piano sound was meh. Had a Nord Electro at one point but it had too much going on and again, piano was meh Any tidbits and advice would be great - This way I can investigate and try to find a place to try one or two out. Unfortunately, not many places have keyboards for trial. Thanks for any help!
  5. No rehearsals. Gigs cancelled for a while. I've actually practiced more than usual and am working on learning how to use Reaper. My energy comes and goes in spurts but at least if things do open up, I'll be ready to go!
  6. A few years ago, we made the decision (as a duo) to move towards lighter equipment. It reduced the physical demand and amount of set-up time before/after gig. The increased energy from the lighter equipment caused us to play better and have shorter recovery time which allowed us to play more gigs. While from a pure sound point, we may have compromised a little authenticity but I think we're playing better. Well worth the convenience for us! FWIW - my main gigging rig is now Casio PX-5S with a Bose L1.
  7. Nice analogy! I remember someone describing Stevie as being in "the hands of God" when he recorded the trifecta of Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life. Truly a masterful arc.
  8. I've been very patient since reading this a couple of months ago. Any hints or new information about a PX-5s Replacement?
