  1. Oops. I was going to say I can usually muddle through with whatever is in front of me but the negative feedback on the CP73 action is alarming.
  2. I have been unable to audition any of several candidates for this and intend to just take a shot in the dark. Likely choice will be a Seven, SV-2 or CP73. The CP73 is likely to be my choice but for reasons that have as much to do with connectivity and interface as sound. I also plan to invest in a laptop with Keyscape or something similar installed. One question that gives me pause concerns the allegedly horrific action ascribed to it on various internet sites. Do any of you who own or have spent time on one these concur? I am not such a virtuoso that I have exa cting rq
  3. Had a chance to play the CK88 today. I have been mulling over either a PC73 or the Crumar Seven / Seventeen but do not have access to either for a test drive. Can anyone here with experience on both comment as to whether the Rhodes sounds on the CK88 are the same as the CP73?
  4. The Complete Quartets (Blue Note) The Grant Green Trio with Sonny Clark They don't / can't do it like this anymore.
  5. Despite not having the opportunity to audition one myself and build quality concerns raised here I am strongly considering buying a Crumar Seven. The last hurdle is an admonition I received from an associate who cautioned me about it's allegedly user unfriendly interface. Does that correspond with the recollections of those here who have tried it? I am not particularly keen on a "deep dive" every time I want to tweak or save something. I really just want to have a couple of Rhodes, a Wurli and probably a Clav at my fingertips and be able to adjust EQ, auto pan, etc from the front panel quickly. Any thoughts?
  6. Is it your opinion that the Rhodes sounds in the SV-2 are a significant advance over the SV-1?
  7. Thank you all very much. One challenge I face is not having access to ANY of these for a test drive. YouTube demos are less than ideal as they tend to range from being done on some guys phone to pretty slicky produced, neither of which paints a very accurate picture.. I am discouraged by reports of the Crumar's build quality being less than road worthy. I may actually join the 21st century and go the laptop route. At the risk of broadening the scope of this thread I would certainly welcome any software suggestions along those lines and I will check into Purgatory Creek.
  8. Thanks, dB : Perhaps "Rhodes Clone Inquiry".
  9. Thanks to everyone who has replied. Is it possible for me to edit the title of this thread?
  10. Thank you both for your replies. Do either of you have experience with the Nord or Korg alternatives to opine which of the three sounds most authentic?
  11. Haven’t landed or posted here for years. I’m not sure why but I’m here now to solicit opinions. I’m looking for a hardware Rhodes emulation and am not up to speed on what’s available that’s better than what I’ve got (Nord / Korg SV 1). I have a few real Rhodes’ but I refuse to drag them around anymore. Any suggestions will be appreciated. A guy was telling me about this Crumar Seventeen. Any thoughts on that? Thanks.
