  1. I see, what's your opinion on the JJ KT77 and the Gold Lion KT77? My only real criteria is a tube that is more likely to be built close to original specs. NOS is out of my price range ATM.
  2. Myles, I'm curious about new production 6CA7's. Are any of them built near to spec? And what about KT77's? From what I've read they're nothing more than marketing hype.
  3. Awesome, thanks Myles. http://www.fadzter.com/smilies/beerchug.gif
  4. Hey Myles, for new production EL84s, are there any that are sturdier, and/or capable of running at higher voltages than the rest? I'm basically looking for one that can beef up an Epi Valve Junior and provide maximum headroom. Thanks!
  5. Cool, thanks. It really is a great speaker, especially for giving open back cabs some oomph.
  6. Just have a quick question: Would you happen to know if the power rating of a Celestion G12H30 (30 watts) is peak or RMS? I was considering hooking up a 45 watt power amp to it as a sound system (keeping things conservative volume-wise), but I just want to be sure; it's a nice speaker.
  7. Hey Myles, I'm in the market for a load device that I can connect to my tube amp's speaker output in which case my rig would be: tube amp-->load device-->effects chain-->power amp-->cabinet I've looked at Weber attenuators, but from what I've been told, using them as a dummy load and using their line out for this purpose kills tone. Do you have any opinions about such a set-up? I've also looked at Harry Kolbe's silent speaker but I have no info about where to get one.
  8. A bit of a follow up here, but I found out today that it is VERY microphonic when used in amps that have a high gain stage for V1. Where's a good place to put a microphonic tube in a Deluxe Reverb? I was thinking V4 might work...
  9. Thanks for the info Myles, all seems to be as it should; just seemed to be a little suspicious to me.
  10. Guess I'll just have to assume that it's really a 5751 then, eh?
  11. This is the reply I received: Thank you for your email. For preamp tube testing, we use the Vacuum Tube Valley dual triode characterizer. This tester provides voltage readings that are unique to this specific tester, and the test readings provided do not correlate to readings from other testers. We do not have specs available for the voltage and bias ratings used with this tester. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you. I don't know what to make of this
  12. Hey Myles, I recently purchased a balanced JAN 5751 from Tube Depot to experiment with as a Phase Inverter. I was looking at the specs, and it's gain is 95 per triode. Is it just me, or does that seem more in the range of a 12AX7?
  13. You're always a great source of info Myles I was hoping to determine if the increases in price brought at least a similar increase in quality. The reviews I've read about the GE 6L6 seem to suit my stylistic preferences, so the TAD is in the lead right now. Thanks
  14. Hey Myles, I'm looking at new production 6L6's. The Ruby GC-M-STR, SED GC, and the TAD WGC-STR all look good. The deciding factor for me is longevity and durability. So, are any of them "generally" built to higher standards than the others? (provided it can justify increased cost)
