  1. Nada, zilch, I thought our usual outdoor gigs would be booked by now but it doesn't look good. NY is about as locked down as anywhere since last March, and that's not changing anytime soon.
  2. The only way to roll, I hate stacked boards, it looks messy, hides the player, confines the boards, I know stage space was often an issue back in the day when people gathered for live music, but I would always try to setup with single tiers in an L or U shape if possible, much better.
  3. Just because it's a small gig doesn't mean a small powered speaker is best, because again it's not about volume, you want the organ to sound good and that takes some speaker size IMO. I'm not saying these gigs need a Leslie or 15", or even a 2x12, but I'd never go with less than 1x12 if my amp was addressing the audience. I'd rather turn down a bigger speaker/amp than crank up a little one any day, it just sounds better.
  4. 12" is best for me, preferably two of them, it's not about volume but bass, you can really feel it, and a full bottom makes all the other frequencies shine. 10" comes close but doesn't really cut it compared to 12's, kind of weak, and forget about 8". And yes, powered speakers were the only option for many years, but I think many just preferred the smaller size and weight for stage monitoring, no need to carry more with a PA. But small powered speakers were never a great option to address even a small crowd, you basically need a PA for yourself and that sucks, Motion Sound made that notion go away, although there has always been decent amps that sound better than powered speakers for organ, electric piano, synths, etc. like the Traynor K4.
  5. Live music in Manhattan has been dead since the early 2000's, once The Wetlands closed everyone knew it was over, and it was. We still have the occasional gig in the city, but it's nothing like the glory days of the 80-90's. Even Brooklyn that was a nice respite for a while is now pretty much dead.
  6. I doubt it's all that complicated to fix, there's not much to break! you'd be shocked how little there is inside a modern keyboard. And I agree the lack of "authorized" service shouldn't be alarming, there's tons of repair shops that will at least take a look and probably find the issue, they want money just like everyone else and you'll probably get some guidance from Crumar. Please don't listen to guys that imply there's some inferiority because of this, Nord, Hammond, etc have piles of issues out there, probably much more than Crumar given the numbers. I've been a Mojo owner since 2016, tons of gigs, zero issues.
  7. Yeah, don't blame PayPal, they're just a money transaction service and they did their job, if they were to reverse charges easily scammers would be all over it, better this way, use your bank or CC to protect you.
  8. Not a fan, she makes a lot of OK music for me, blah. And she should just change her fake stage name back to her real name like John Cougar.
  9. Nice, that's a beast, the KP-500S is plenty for me right now but would love to try that, and I do believe a large keyboard amp is worth carrying, people that have never played one of the new MS amps just don't know what a pleasure they are, it would take a large powered speaker/PA setup to compete with these new boxes.
  10. Powered speakers were the best option until Motion Sound started making great amps, now it's all about your needs and chances are one of the MS amps will beat the PS setup every time. PS are designed to throw the sound out for public address, not great at near field dispersion, so those standing right in front of a PS will get a full sound, those behind and to the sides won't hear much at all, this sucks for monitoring on stages without a great PA, the MS amps have big wide sound fields and some are even 360. And PS don't take a keyboard out well, you'll get a slightly weak signal, which is why a mixer works so well, but who wants to setup all that crap? a single MS amp will sound hotter and hence better straight up compared to a PS without a mixer. You need two PS and a mixer to compete with the single MS box, and even then the MS will probably sound better. The only need I would still use a PS for these days is self-monitoring on stage, with a direct out for the monitors and house, otherwise the MS amps win.
  11. The Classic certainly looks great, and the flat top has me considering trading up, the top controls is the only thing I don't like about my Mojo. But being slightly bigger and heavier will probably stay my hand, not looking to carry more Mojo.
  12. There are many original musicians making much more than $100 per gig, I even know some of them. The difference between them and the people that don't is they have fans, lots of them, they can ride into just about any town and fill a room. I'll never understand those that complain about pay, as if they have tons of fans and the promoter/clubs aren't paying them, that really doesn't happen, those clubs are more than happy to pay an act that sells tickets, even desperate to, the guys that bitch about $$ are those that think they're providing a service that takes a lot of work and investment to achieve so they've earned it, and that's not how art works, art isn't a job. So I'll keep playing for little money, because playing is the only way to build fans and fans are the only way to get paid.
  13. I have the same problem, I just sell them cheap to buyers on CL when I sell other keyboard stuff, most can't turn down a good deal, the last time I sold my Apex with three tiers and mic attachment for $100. Right now I'm using and loving the On-Stage WS8550 T-Stand, no small parts to lose, 5 second setup, totally clear under the board, it's a pleasure and doubt I ever change, but I don't use or like tiers anymore, think it's looks terrible on stage, so this stand is not for those that need to stack.
  14. The HoF sure gets a lot of attention and hubbub for something so many consider "BS", if you don't like it and disagree with it's existence why talk about it at all? And it cracks me up to see many complain about artists that aren't in yet, as if every artist and their brothers crappy garage band won't get in eventually, newsflash - they're all getting in someday. The HoF absolutely loves the hype that comes with pissed off fans not seeing their favorite artists get in, and then the adoration they give when they do. I'm not a big fan, I've been there and it was ho-hum, but I do like the concert ceremony, great musicians to be seen there.
  15. That's why I use a Motion Sound KP-500S, take the sound guy out of the equation, do I need a line out at Madison Square Garden? nope, I'm good, everyone will hear me just fine, maybe I'll turn the volume up to 7 for the people in the back.
