  1. Dan's on the money with the Sax section. Try editing the main brass sound to give a bend up to the note when played hard (Pitch envelope velocity). That helps get the feel for the top Bb note in the brass run in the verse. Also add a swell to the filter/amp for the sustain notes. There are a couple of brass patches that already do swell, copy the parameters to your favourite brass sound to give some movement. I have this programmed on my XF if you need more info.
  2. This isn't really a new song. It's a reworking of a song I wrote back in 1988 when I really was a "Jigolo" I recently got back in touch with Alan, the original guitarist in Jigolo, who came round and recorded the lead vocals and acoustic guitar for me on this rework. I know it's old school; it ain't gonna revolutionise music. It's a snapshot of how I felt back then and by my reckoning, emotions don't change. All the other instrumentation is softsynth apart from the solo, done on a wx5 and vl-70. As a musician, I always welcome criticism, that way I can learn to be better. Now... Please rip into it! http://www.cycast.co.uk/mp3.php?par=Yj0yMDEzMw==
  3. Genuine story. My dad was a security guard many years ago watching a yard full of large heavy duty cable drums. One day there were guys digging up the tarmac upthe top of yard. One of the workmen knocked on the the guardroom door and informed my dad in a thick Cork accent, "Excuse me mister, I just cut your talking rope"
  4. Even sillier thoughts... What does a Digeridoo? Where does a Tango? Where did the Mangrove? ...I'll stop now before I'm banished from the forum!
  5. Just posted 2 full songs on the following site. http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/freefall Although I've posted them with the band bio they're all my own work.(The band will be playing the songs soon). If you would like a copy PM me & I'll give you the download site link.
  6. Please check out my two song snippets that I've just uploaded. http://www.mp3unsigned.com/Showband.asp?id=19400 Any comments gratefully accepted.
  7. I'm really sorry folks, I just can't resist... So the gig went down well then?
  8. A long, long time ago .... My band was support act to Junior Walker & the All Stars at a function near Manchester, England. We did our set (went down quite well, the audience were quite literally dancing on the tables). Then Jnr came on and to my mind just blew us away, man, he was that sweet! After a song in the middle of his set he turns to the audience and says" Hey, what do want to hear next?" and someone at the back of the room shouts our bands name.
  9. Hi folks, Thought I'd better post some info about me rather than hiding behind a pseudo. My name's Ian Sharrock, and I live in Coppull, Lancashire, England (the same village as Barry Mason, who penned "Delilah" for Sir Tom Jones). I've been playing keys since I was 9 (I'm now 43). Been in pro touring bands as well as semi pro. My current band is "Firepoint", a classic rock / originals band that plays pubs, clubs & bike rallies. My gigging gear; Hammond XK2, Novation KSrack, Korg N1R, Roland A33, Roland AX7, Casio FZ1 (x2, one for gigging & one at home). My home stuff; Yamaha DX5, E-MU PROformance plus, Korg DW8000, Logan Strings Mk2, 2 osc. analogue synth I made back in the early '80s. (electronics training comes in handy for something!). I'm also a member of the Guild of International Songwriters & Composers and collaborate on other members work.
  10. Guy walks into a muso store and asks the shopkeeper for the white amp & the red saxophone. Shopkeeper says" you're a drummer, aren't you"? "How do you know" "Cos the red saxophone is a fire extinguisher & the radiator is not for sale"! What's the difference between a drum machine & a drummer? You only have to punch the song into a drum machine once. How do you know that there's a singer at the door? He can't find the key & never knows when to come in.
