  1. Not THAT'S one of the many reasons there is only one John Fogarty!
  2. ...WTF? Let me look again...WTF? Now I'm really confused! LOL!
  3. There is just something about ukuleles. They just seem to attract positive vibes.
  4. Dave, Congrats on your new Telecaster. I think every guitar player should have a Tele in their quiver. Leo Fender and Co. got it just about right when they designed it
  5. I have this little amp and I really like it: Vox Mini5 Rhythm 5W Portable Amp w/Rhythm You can vary the output wattage 1w, 1.5w or 5w. it has modeling and backing rhythms. Can be plugged in or use AA batteries.Very light and portable. Spent around $180.
  6. Richard Thompson tops my list of underrated guitarists. He is respected, especially by his peers but in reality he is relatively unknown. He is equally brilliant on both acoustic and electric guitars. I think the last Rolling Stone list of 100 greatest guitarists of all time he finished in 69th place! Damn, Angus Young finished higher than him!

    Regrets?

The regret I have is giving up guitar for 32 years! I took it up back in high school at about 16-17 years old.with a purchase of a Sears Silvertone acoustic with strings about 1/4" off the frets. I struggled with that for several months before buying a 60s Japanese made semi-hollow electric (for some reason I can't remember the brand name) and an Ampeg tube amp. In awhile, I purchased a used 1961 Gibson Melody Maker in cherry finish for $100. An entry level guitar but pretty nice for a teenager at the time. I a few years I was in college and got hard up for money so I did a stupid thing and sold the Melody Maker for $100. At the time that was probably 2 weeks pay for me. I also sold the Ampeg amp for $100. Damn! I wish I still had that Melody Maker! Long story short, I did not take up guitar again until I was in my 50s. I wonder where I would be now as a guitar player if I had not quit. Let's face it, I was not much of a guitar player back in the 70s but I would have to be better than I am now after nearly about 15 years of play.
  8. So sorry to see you go A String. You will be missed by many!
  9. Ouch man! Take care Skip, hope you feel better real soon.
  10. While not convenient and something you want, it is great you don't have Parkinson's. Best of luck to you and keep on picking!
  11. When I was a kid I and got all my music from top 40 radio I was into the Beatles, Stones and CCR. In my early teens I started earning my own money for the first time so I was able to buy records for the first time. That is when I got exposed to Cream, Hendrix, Allman Brothers etc. and my fevered teenaged brain was drawn to the guitars they played. I lusted for either a Fender or a Gibson with Strat and Les Paul topping the list. I would have settled for a Telecaster or an SG. After a cheap Sears acoustic and a no name archtop I found a used early sixties Gibson Melody Maker for $100. It wasn't a Les Paul or an SG but I would afford it! Sure wish I had that guitar today!
  12. Surreal! I like it very much!
  13. One of the greats in the history of Rock guitar. Been way too many passing over in the past several years. Keep hammering on Dick!
