  1. I'm a high school teacher, and I can tell you forget iPad's even - they only want to work on their phones. In fact, it's myth that "kids today are so tech savvy!". Some certainly are, but many/most are not at all. They know apps on their phones. And even when "computers" are in use in school settings, they are overwhelmingly Chromebooks with very limited functionality.
  2. I remember buying the 45 of "Go All The Way" in 8th grade. What an amazing power-pop gem. That song still is like a time machine for me, immediately taking me back to junior high when I hear it to this day. Very sorry to hear of his passing, as well as Karl Wallinger who also passed away....:( AM Radio was so wonderful and diverse in the early to mid 70's.. ....
  3. I’ve griped in the past about how I wish manufacturers would list the tension on a given keyboard, and make available lighter or stiffer springs to swap in should the end user desire a change. And charge for it! For some reason it’s a state secret on the manufacturer’s side; they hold that information stupidly close to the vest.
  4. To the OP, are you considering one or the other for purchase? And what are your needs?
  5. An A105 is essentially a B3/C3 in a cabinet with internal speakers. Likely made in the 60's-ish. A CV/BV is 2 revisions back from a B3/C3. Likely made mid-late 1940's. Similar in sound, but also slightly different... A105 has much more value IMHO....
  6. Mechanical's are just music publishing royalties paid when a song is sold. The only weird thing about them is that they are set by congress. From Songtrust's website: "The Statutory Mechanical Royalty Rate is the rate set forth by the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel for physical or digital download mechanical royalties. In the U.S., this rate is currently set at 12.4¢ per track or 2.39¢ for each minute of playing time, whichever is greater."
  7. This! I think Rick does an excellent job on his interviews, and as others have said, he really is a fan and a knowledgeable one a that. His earlier stuff was interesting and good, but he really has upped his game with the extended interviews. The folks he interviews seem to really enjoy the process, and me as a viewer appreciate the hard work he clearly has put in. Really loved the Daniel Lanois, the Sting, and the recently discussed Michael Omartian.
  8. Argh...sorry. Didn't notice you're in Germany. That does change the equation!
  9. Ken Rich sells a Wurlitzer-specific gig bag: https://www.kenrichsounds.com/collections/wurlitzer-electric-piano-parts/products/softcase
  10. Great photo!! The Wurlie looks pretty new?
  11. Correct....no way MCA would let one of their few top-selling acts leave the fold. MCA was a hot mess from '79-'83 or so....everyone on the label wanted off.
  12. No, of course not. But having worked for two of the three labels, I can say without a doubt that that sort of behavior would NOT have happened from WBR. They were a very artist driven label, and that was not the kind thing they would try to strong arm. MCA on the other hand? Especially at that time they were known for being the opposite...
  13. The "suits" would have been from ABC or maybe MCA, but not Warner Bros.
  14. One of the more interesting things to me that Omartian mentioned was that he went over to their houses before the sessions to work out parts and stuff. So it sounds like, at least for the main cats - keys, bass, guitar and drums - they had some time to look over charts and not have to see them for the first time when they walked into the studio for the session. It makes them seem a bit more human? But just a bit...still super-human in my book....
