  1. It’s growing on me! Jon Davison has a quirky way of phrasing rhythms and placing accents. After you listen a couple of times you start to see how it’s flowing. FWiW, I like the previous two albums a lot. 🙂

  5. I just went back and listened again to Native Dancer. One of many sublimely beautiful creations from Wayne Shorter.
  6. Been there! 🙂 Or this one: you’re playing in a lobby and the hotel sound techs can’t figure it how to turn off the Muzak. Which is emanating from a speaker right over your head. Not to worry though, the manager has a solution: “Can’t you just play along with it?”
  7. There are signatures and hooks, there are solo sections that are open for anything, and occasionally there’s a solo that is a fully formed composition within the song. Much of Steve Howe’s work with YES, and some of Steve Hackett’s parts with early Genesis are unimprovableupon. IMO 🙂
