  1. ok, well basically, i have recently bought a fender twin with 8 ohm speakers (not sure how they are wired). i want to use it with my marshall cabinet which originally had 4 x 16ohm speakers in it. i replaced these 16ohm speakers with 8ohm speakers a while ago and have been using it with a marshall super lead head. the problem is that i'm not sure if i wired the speakers correctly. i've heard that the way i wired them makes it a 2ohm cabinet. i am trying to make it an 8ohm cabinet. this is a rough diagram of how i wired it: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y151/xandapanda/cabinet.jpg after being told that this would make it 2ohms, it has been suggested that i wire it this way instead in order to make it 8ohms: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y151/xandapanda/cab2-1.jpg bear in mind that it is a marshall cabinet and on the back of it, has a mono/stereo switch between the 2 jacks, so it's not as straight forward as a single input cabinet. so my basic question is: how should i wire it to make it an 8 ohm cabinet? also, the twin says "total load 4 ohms" on the back. i want to use the cabinet together with the 8ohm speakers in the twin. is there any way i can do this with the speaker configuration i have at the moment?
  2. Hi Myles, i've never asked you anything before but i was directed to you by Caevan. If you have time could you possibly give your 2 cents on the questions i have in this thread? /ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/2003831/page/1/gonew/1#UNREAD
  3. cheers for your advice but i was having a play with the inside after unscrewing the back and front panels and removed a load of dust as well as blowing really hard down the little holes where wires come out of and it fixed it!
  4. hi myles, i was redirected to you from my ther thread about my amp that's humming. its a circa '83 JCM 800 (lead series 2205). i've tried to teach it the words (chortle chortle) but it keeps humming. even when my guitar isn't plugged into it it hums. and i've deduced that its the reverb pot because the amp works perfectly when reverb is turned to "0" and starts to hum as i turn the reverb up and actually made a loud crackly sound at about 3/4. any suggestions? thanks
