  1. I finally got to come back and read all the replies. I want to thank all the responses from the many talented members I truly respect. My final word on all the comments are that although I don’t entirely agree with all of them, my original post was simply to elicit ideas on what other sets of ears were hearing. I wasn’t comfortable with what I was trying to figure out and I knew that there was some tasteful stuff going on I wanted to hear better and incorporate it into my evolving part. In my mind, bringing in new ideas and approaches to how I create my own parts works for me. Stealing nuggets from the best players is a part of improving my playing. Again, I’m grateful for all your comments.
  2. I'm learning After Midnight for an upcoming gig and need some assistance. The song consists of 4 chords and I've discovered that what keyboard player is doing is simply not just playing triads. The track is buried just enough that I'm having trouble picking out what he's doing. I've experimented with open fifths and inverted fifths and am not satisfied with what I'm trying to come up with. The organ track is also sort of playing around with these chords and to my ears is adding up to a complimentary track to the piano. I hear octaves on the G chords and of course, the downward glissandos(sp?) are easy to emulate. What am I missing here? Shell voicings? Drop 3s? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! 3. I’m doing a gig on 4/12 with a very prominent PNW musician who puts these occasional gigs out where he plays with musicians he’s never worked with. He culls together 3 sets of material from songs the aggregate musicians sort of know and we do the gig with now rehearsals. I’ve got to learn ELO and Moody Blues tunes that I’ve never played. I’ve got my hands full with those 6 alone….
  4. Years and years ago when I worked in music retail, we had an ancient hard drive that contained some obviously bootleg tales from Motown sessions. How they were procured from s a mystery. Superstition was one of the tunes and as I recall, there were 4 Clavinet tracks. One of things I distinctly remembered was the EQ settings on each individual track was noticeably different …
  5. A caveat I would add to any ad is requiring a professional piano mover be hired ….
  6. So, I finally got back to this thread in front of my keyboard and here's my final bit of harmonic theory confusion-the last two chords resolving to the G. Am I understanding correctly that I can play a Bb diminished over the F and an A diminished over a Gb and resolve to the G6?
  7. Sorry I haven't been around to digest all this earlier this week, but I'm getting my head around it a bit more. Thanks for all the advice!!!
  8. I got a little lost in the theoretical musical theory here 😬. Are we still talking in the key of G here? Is the #IV chord C#. There’s also mention of a C#b5. Please explain it to me like I’m 8yrs old…..😣
  9. Yes. The sheet music my bass player posted had the 2nd measure of that chord progression as C/E-C#mib5/E#-D/F#🤨. I’m pretty sure that’s from the studio version. Thx!!!
  10. I'm learning a very cool JT tune, Every Has the Blues and there's a two bar chord progression at 1:19 that has me stumped on the last 2 beats of second measure. I hear the bass line as B C C# D E F F# resolving to a G. The chords I think I hear are Dmin/ C Eb/D G/D, but just can't figure out what chord is over the E F F#. Any better ears out there that can help me? Thx! Everybody Has the Blues - Live.mp3
  11. I remember seeing one in blue sparkle in the 70s at a music store in Dearborn MI
  12. I just joined an Animals tribute, which I will only be using my Stage 3 Compact. I’m going to be standing and want to go with a minimalist look, so am thinking with going with a set of their legs. However, the extension’s that come with it won’t bring it up to a height that’s sufficient for standing. Years ago I had a Nord piano 88 with the leg set and had a set of extenders that did just that. Unfortunately, I cannot recall how I came about them. It certainly wasn’t from Nord;most likely a third party sourcing. They were very high quality and perfectly matched the color with matching chrome threaded spacers. I did some research and discovered a website called Vintage King that advertised a complete set that included the additional leg extenders. The person I spoke to on the phone was totally clueless about the product and said he would have to call Nord about it. I explained to him that the leg set Nord sells does not include that extension set. He said he still call them and email me a reply, which I never have gotten. I found a couple of other sites that advertise this set, but they are located in Australia. So, my question is if any current or past Nord owner has any knowledge of this, I would greatly appreciate any info. I’ve attached a screenshot of the Vintage King product page.
