  1. Amatures starve too, but we deserve it more. Refreshing to see unarmed nuns enjoying a beer.
  2. Way too many. When I find myself watching the game with the rest of them it's admitting defeat. The gig sucks. One memorable night in a dive bar a few years ago we had the Celtics and Bulls game 6 playoffs on one screen with the Red Sox and Yankees on the other. We did not care. We came to play and had way too much fun to be ignored. Beating the Celtics and the Red Sox isn't easy. I'm done with that stuff. I won't play in a place with a TV on again unless they have an awesome answer to kanker's favorite question. TV rots my brain and couches are bad for my back. I wouldn't consider playing keys on a couch. I can't even use a piano bench. The Roc'n'Soc is about the only seat that works for me.
  3. That's how it starts. Be careful. You could get sucked in and get pretty good at it. You're a little late starting at 37, but don't let that scare you off. I know a guy who started playing drums well into his sixties. He can hang at jams where the pros know him and play to his strengths.
  4. I was always delighted to have Lyle play my piano. He played my C3 a few times before I actually bought. He decided to buy a G3 for a few bucks less, so I took the C3. I'm not sure about Lyle, but I know Pat was a big NRBQ fan in those days.
  5. I was always uncomfortable watching Terry play one of my pianos. He's a very percussive guy. Fist smears and whatnot. He's a lot more entertaining on somebody else's piano.
  6. I finally heard one of these last Sunday at a jam. He was running it through a Behringer keyboard amp that doubled as his seat. He had no expression pedal, which made it less fun for me to play organ. I wasn't knocked out by the percussion, C/V, or Leslie sim. I lasted for half a tune before abandoning it for piano on my PX-5s. Hardly a fair evaluation considering how much I'd like to hear what a chainsaw sounds like running through the same amp.
  7. I finally got the first piece of my first stand built. Nothing fancy, just a dolly for the B3 so it's easy to roll around the room. http://B3and88.com/img/B3-dolly-f.jpg http://B3and88.com/img/B3-dolly-r.jpg The next step is the carpeted clamp blocks to secure the organ to the dolly with tee nuts and 3/8" bolts. That'll all serve as the foundation for the case. I don't intend to gig with it, but I do hope to move soon. So far, none of the little nicks are mine and I want to keep it that way. The case is being designed to stay on at all times because I'm old and clumsy. It's so pretty I'm afraid of it. It rolls around nicely on six 2 1/2" wheels. There are two additional lengthwise supports underneath to catch a piano dolly for real moving. It's also got oak skids along the front and rear so it can slide easily over a tailgate or top step. I'm not a big fan of the Roll'n'Kari organ dollies. I'd rather use a piano dolly and 2" cotton straps.
  8. There's a Lexus in the parking lot with the lights on. Does it belong to anybody in the band?
  9. I must have missed this thread. I think mine works for Halloween and Thanksgiving.
  10. You can play the audio track and get the exact same sound. You can play the MIDI track back to the SV1 and get the exact same sound. The software editor will let you edit and store all the settings for the sounds on the SV1, but not the actual sound itself. A software editor is not a software synth.
  11. Harshing you buzz? Sorry. To an old geezer, this is the good stuff in hip hop. [video:youtube]VXlzWMIw4rw
  12. Probably because you can't. You have to link to an image hosted elsewhere. Hit the quote button on a post containing an image to see how to do that. I like your dogs, Tom! I dig John Cleese too. My security level today is don't harsh my buzz.
  13. According to IMDB, Elvis plays Vince Everett in Jailhouse Rock. The lady asks, "What do you think, Mr. Everett?", so there you go.
  14. That made my day. That's about how I feel reading and listening in this thread.
  15. Happy Independence Day! Religion and politics? Perhaps.
