  1. Have you tried following that video? I must be slow or something, but I couldn't keep up with him, and he jumped from topic to topic like a monkey in heat. I've been through the silly thing 6 times aleady and still don't know how to do what I want. Frustrating!
  2. I wanna use the HX Effects to make program changes on my Catalyst 100 amp. Anybody know how?
  3. Does anybody know where he gets those really wide straps he uses?
  4. DO you notice much difference between the way they play as opposed to a Gibson scale length guitar?
  5. Hey Fang, good to see an old wolf return to the pack! Welcome back!
  6. Customer service seems to be the downfall of a lot of guitar companies these days. I understand wanting to totally avoid being taken to the cleaners by dishonest customers, but it's probably better to get stung a few times than to offend your entire customer base with overly draconian return and replacement policies. What it sounds like is Kiesel is trying to get the cheapest shipping rate possible, which of course is ground as opposed to air. If Jeff Kiesel doesn't know how to get the right kind of return label from Fed Ex, he needs to learn how, or hire someone who knows. I work in the mail room of my company, and I can attest that UPS and Fedex have some pretty arcane policies, but it's not rocket science. It sounds like they are trying to save pennies in shipping at the cost of dollars in customer satisfaction. I wonder how long it will be before they DO file chapter 11...
  7. Would you explain the "sweetened 12 string" method? I don't think I've heard of that before.
  8. I'm looking at putting a partscaster strat together, and I'm strongly considering using two humbuckers in a classic two pickup set up. I'm thinking I'll use a 3-way switch with two volumes and a master tone, like a Flying V or Explorer. I have seen strats set up like that before, but was never drawn to the idea much. I try not to be snobbish, but hey, if you waant a Gibson, get a Gibson, right? It seems like the differents in scale length and body composition would make it harder to play than a Les Paul or V. What do you guys think? Any of you rocking a 2 bucker strat, or have experience therof?
  9. I recently bought a Line 6 Catalyst 60, used but with all the paperwork that should tell you how to operate the thing. I found an entry in The Pilot's Manual(what they call their operating instructions) that says it's possible to program the channel switch on the 2-button footswitch to activate or deactivate the Boost function. But, you have to download the Catalyst Edit software onto your phone, tablet, computer, etc. After going through the rigamarole of opening my previously established account, I figured out that I would have to open a different account because THERE WAS NOBODY TO TELL ME HOW i COULD RESET THE PASSWORD ON MY ACCOUNT TO DOWNLOAD NEW SOFTWARE, OR GAIN ACCESS TO STORED SOFTWARE i HAD PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED. I tried in vain for a hour or so to contact anybody who could assist me, with no joy. I discovered that Line 6 has their site set up specifically to avoid speaking directly to their customers. It seemingly can't be done. In the old days, when you didn't want to interface with somebody, the motto was "talk to the hand." These days, it seems to be "talk to the computer." Actual customer service seems to have gone by the wayside. Hghly disappointing...
  10. Of course I will, but I don't think it'll be there. I wanted that because it was just easy to get a great lead tone out of it without an OD pedal, just turn it up till the knob was at about 2 o'clock, and ride the volume knob on the guitar. The Catalyst intrigues me because Line 6 didn't attempt to clone classic amp tones. They devised tones individually for this amp. That's a novel approach for a modeling amp company. And, well, $150 was a good price for me. I couldn't find a 6V6 amp within my price range. Oh well, maybe some other time...
  11. I'm installing a set of hot rail style 'buckers in a strat that currently has alnico V singles in it. I have heard that I should change the pots from 250k to 500k. Is it necessary to change all three of the pots, or would it work just to change the volume pot?
  12. I found a listing on Marketplace for a Line 6 Catalyst 60, talked 'em down to $150, and picked it up. It looks like a pretty good deal, has the features I want, and is very light to carry. Looking forward to working it out.
