  1. Here's mine. Not the real deal, but still makes the hair stand up on my arms.
  2. There was a tape loop based design financed by Rick Wakeman - the Birotron. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birotron
  3. I was forever cured of pick up gigs by the last one I did with a local long running band. We had one rehearsal the night before, and I learned that I came better prepared than the regular players were. The gig was a disaster. It was an unorganized outdoor multiple band event with no stage or stage lighting. We played a tiny set for a tiny crowd because we were last and everything was late, but we still had to stop at dark. During this short set, the drummer bandleader was yelling at the bass player for losing the beat during What Is Hip, and the horn section was so bad cracking notes and playing sloppy that the drummer actually stopped the song to yell at them before starting it again. Needless to say I never answered my phone again when he was calling.
  4. No, you cannot split an organ manual. The standard registration for lower manual jazz is 838000000, which allows playing bass lines in the bottom octave and comping with a mellow tone with your right hand. Then you use the upper manual for your lead and shout stuff.
  5. My high school band did Lee's version of "Tell Me How Do You Feel" and turned it into a 20+ minute extravaganza with added triple guitar leads. We must have been completely obnoxious...
  6. Had a sax player buddy from Milford back in the 80s when I lived in Cinti.
  7. I have been told it is a lacquer finish.
  8. Probably growing some metal dendrite tentacles inside the vibrato scanner. It could possibly be fixed externally with a flashing. Does the vibrato sound choppy when it's on?
  9. Electrical or mechanical clicking?
  10. I've not oiled any of my tonewheel organs for years. IMO the factory recommendation for filling the cups every year leads to puddles under organs. The cups connect to strings which draw oil drops by capillary action into the generator cells, which have felt pads to soak it up and lubricate the bearings. I've not ever seen gunky buildup in those generator pads when proper Hammond oil is used. I wouldn't use 3 in 1 or sewing machine oil precisely because there is no data on long term build up.
  11. RIP Bob. I lived in a farmhouse in Marissa for a couple years and worked for both Heil Sound and Ye Olde Music Shoppe. Good times.
