  1. Thanks a lot for responding with your views. Will have the techie look at it from your perspective. Will get back with the outcome.
  2. My Korg M1 was unused for a couple of years.Last week when i turned it on, i got very faint audio level even at max. All the tones are in tact, the internal battery is also fine.Just that the volume is barely audible. There is very little technical support for Korg products in my location, But eventually i will get some technician to look at it. I just wanted to understand what could possibly be the issue/remedy so as to ensure the local technician doesn't go off-track. Will really appreciate any suggestions/advice from the experts here. Thanks a lot.
  3. I know i'm being a little too cautious about this. But that's because if i lose the presets, i'll be in a bigger shithouse than i am right now. If i were in Us or Europe, it would have been another thing. Here in India there are hardly any dealers and very few fellow users that i can get help from. And asof now i'm not even 100%sure that keeping the unit powered on while changing the battery is sure to save the internal memory data. By the way i have discovered a phenomenal website that is a treasurehouse of free info on all kinds of gear and their operation. Do check out www.coastmusic.ca sometime.More later.
  4. One thing i was shocked to find is the korg website offers no help on such matters. It has just listed its distributors. But several emails sent to their UK distributors went unreplied. Looks like the company doesn't give a damn once the products are sold.
  5. Dave, thanks for your ideas.I'm now a little more confident about handling this. And yeah maybe i'll come back with the story. See you around.
  6. Thanks very much for your tips. I happen to be in India where the only Korg distributor came into existence much after the M1 was manufactured. They have offered to help but are not too confident. Battery is not a problem, but they have no RAM cards to save the data and reload later. And RAM cards are not even available for purchase in this part of the world. The distributor has advised what you are suggesting: to keep the memory on external power while the battery is replaced. But since the M1 manual makes no mention of this method, i'm not sure if this will work. However, for want of any other option i may have to attempt this. can't do the battery change myself cos i've never seen the inside of a keyboard. the midi option sounds good but a little too technical for my skills. i think i'll stick to your other suggestion. Thanks again.
  7. My M1 has run out of battery for internal memory. And i don't have any RAM cards. How do i save all the data for the battery to be changed?
