  1. Just had a first listen of Bright Side. Sounds great, love all the vocals, harmonies, string arrangements are stellar. Also listened to a few cuts off of Dark Side, and like them just as much for being radically different. I like the scaled down arrangements, and I would say that the funkier tunes sound more organic on Dark Side. I believe Tchad Blake was the engineer on Us, and I remember thinking at the time that the album sounded like it had been mixed through a blanket, dull & lifeless. I guess I’ve gotten used to his style, as I like these mixes. As for which version to listen to, I guess it depends which side of the bed you wake up on. Now onto the Inside mix, on 5.1, curious to hear how it will fold down.
  2. I just scored a Modal Electronics Cobalt8X, 8 voice virtual analog, great fun. Needed a ‘synth’ for gigging to compliment the Electro6 & MOXF8. Was looking at the System 8, but had a few limitations for me.
  3. I like it, i think 😉 And what’s this, you can add an image without hosting from a different site?
  4. Ah. Well those controls have to be where they are, or it wouldn't be authentic! ;-) Really, having had the original many years ago, I never found it to be an issue. In fact, I think front panel controls can be an advantage. If it's a top-tier board and you want to tweak with your left hand while playing with your right, your left hand doesn't have to reach so far away from you. Especially if you sit while playing, it can be awkward to operate controls that are behind the keys on a board that is placed on the high side. Of course, this board's design is also from an era where having 3 (or more) boards on stage was more common. +1. Still have mine, and I agree, when it"s top tier, the controls are in the right spot. $2k though, I don"t think so.
  5. Hey kids, sorry I nipped out without saying goodbye, but I was trying to find the text thing and I ended up killing the feed. Not too much experience with the Zoom thing. Until next time!
  6. I just did my first gig with a new IEM setup. Band is quite loud for a 4 piece, so it was switch to IEMs or go deaf. Set of Westone UM Pro 30s & a Behringer P1. I run a monitor line out from my Key Largo into the P1, and a feed from the FOH into the other P1 input. Tweak the levels, done. I think I may have turned the overall volume down once or twice during the show. Sounded great as well, first experience with Westones.
  7. Just invested in some in-ear monitoring. Westone Pro30s with a Behringer P1, and just before that an Electro 6D.
  8. Agreed, anyone BUT UPS, or prepare to take it ups the butt with their ridiculous brokerage fees.
  9. This. Earlier evenings, real money that finances other GAS purchases. Ween ween!
  10. I picked up a MOXF8 a few years ago for the same reasons, much lighter than my old S70XS. Do let us know.
  11. Killer! cool website too! Thanks dude. Website is Bandzoogle, I just filled in the blanks....
  12. Just released my new CD a few weeks ago, here's a link to my site where you can find the new tunes under the MUSIC tab... Abandoned Film Let me know what you think. DanS
  13. Picked up the Radial Key Largo mixer. Sweet little unit that sits nicely right on top of my XK1c. First gig with it was Saturday night. Drummer came up to me after soundcheck and asked what I changed with my setup, showed him the Largo, he said everything sounded really nice. After the gig, the soundman said the keys sounded amazing. For a change, I ran everything to the house in stereo. The piano actually sounded like a piano, instead of a digital knockoff, and the Hammond was nice and smooth at the sometimes 'shrilly' top end. Great piece of kit.
  14. Good to know. Unfortunately on the XK1c, there is no effects loop, so to use the Tall & Fat would mean also getting a Vent or equivalent. I do miss the tubes from the XK3c, but not the 25lbs of extra weight.
