  1. I'm not sure what exactly I tried but there was a Shuguang 12AX7 and a Tung-Sol 12AX7. I got all the tubes from http://www.dougstubes.com I'm not very knowlegable on the differences between short and long plate tubes and which brands are which Grab an ECC83S for V1 and V2. Are those JJ ECC83S tubes?

  3. hey myles i have an ENGL Fireball and it seems that every 12AX7 tube I try in V1 seems to have some microphonic quality. Any suggestions on what tube would work best there to calm down the microphincs. I think it also is contributing to the feedback that seems to be excessive with this amp. It is a gain monster after all. Let me know, thanks
  4. hey myles can recommend a good 1x15 or 2x15 cab for a peavey 6505 For metal tones. I want to run it along side a dual recto with a recto 4x12. we are trying out a no bass player setup and tring to dig further into the low end of the 2 guitars
  5. If they help they are good. Sometimes they do, sometimes they do not. An old trick that is fast and easy is to use conventional rubber bands. Can they cauuse any negative effects?
  6. Hey Myles, just curious what you thought of the idea of tube dampers (like the silicone rings) in guitar amps are they helpful or a bad idea?
  7. Nope .... they are gone and our tooling in Russia is who knows where..... we may never see them again. GT currently has the KT66C. Why were they discontinued and how does the KT66Cs compare to the HPs?
  8. Hey Myles, are Groove Tubes still making the KT66HPs? I went to go order them from the site for my dual rectifier and didn't see them
  9. Hey Myles, I was wondering if you could make some recomendations for a Peavey 6505. Basically what tubes and what groove tube rating to make it huge and brutal for metalcore, let me know, thanks
  10. hey Myles i was wondering what you thought of a VHT Deliverance paired with a Dual Rectifier or maybe a VHT CL any thoughts. I haven't heard to much about the Deliverance can it do Chugga Chuga metal Hardcore stuff?
  11. Hey Myles, I'm new to the biasing of amps since i had a mesa before the fireball. Is there an optimum plate voltage for my amp? Since it's a 60watt amp I need as much volume as possible and I don't know if plate voltage plays a role or not. Also in the power section are there tubes that will be louder then others? I really just dont know how it all works.
  12. It is basically a matter of personal taste. I guess I'll know what I want tonally different as I play with it, but are there any popular tube setups with it that you know of? Also do I need to re-bias it with every power tube change or can I just get tubes in a certain rating like my dual recto You need to rebias with tube changes unless they are the same tubes and the same rating and the amp was biased for that type and rating. What tubes are in there now, front end and back end, so I can try to dial you in? So I got my Fireball, it sounds great but it's a little noisy and the gain is a bit sharp on the high end. I guess I'm looking to smooth the gain out and make it a little less grainy, but keep it heavy. Any suggestions? I have no idea what the stock tubes are except the power tubes are 6L6GC

  14. it's actually in the mail as we speak. I was just trying to get a jump on all the questions I'm going to have But as far as re-biasing goes is that something easy I can do myself or do i need a tech? You can rebias yourself with this: http://www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=1191
