  1. Seems like you have your answer and it’s resolved itself. If some of the old guys would fit in a new band bring them along.
  2. Indeed very sad news. Like many of us old timers, I have known Jeremy as an online friend anyway, since around 2005 maybe. A long time. We chatted a lot and he had some great advice and insight. When I said he had passed my wife knew who I was talking about l, so for an online connection, I guess it was a fairly good one. I feel bad that we kind of lost track when the big collapse of the lowdown happened years ago. I wish his family well. He will certainly be missed.
  3. Tiny Desk concerts (at "home" or in the NPR office cubical) are the best thing to happen to music in a long time.
  4. I believe the Shuttle can handle the input from a piezo pickup. They also have a great DI built in. I'd say just use that.
  5. Well, for most gigs I use IEM's and no amp. I have a Tuner, Empress Bass Compressor, Bass Big Muff for some dirt, and a REDDI. When I need an amp I have a Genzler MG350/12T-V combo.
  6. I haven't done one for a while. I've certainly settled down a lot from 15 years ago. Anyway, I think I posted my Roscoe Classic P that my wife got me for Christmas a couple years ago. Great bass. Actually got me to like a P bass and has become my main bass for many things, especially the classic rock and some singer/songwriter gigs. Also my go to for jazz quartet type gigs. I actually sold my Roscoe fretless as I just wasn't playing it. Still have the Roscoe Century 5 Koa. That's a forever bass. Every time I bring it out after playing something else for a while I remember why it was/is my #1 after 10 years. My new one from a couple months ago is a Sadowsky. I've had a couple in the past and liked them. I wanted a more "jazz" tone for some things (the Roscoes don't have a "jazz" tone to my ear) and those things also "required" a B string. Most jazz basses, and especially 5's, are heavy and weight is a thing with me. Fortunately(?) this bass was available. It's a Sadowsky Metro Express from Japan. 5JJ hum cancelling pups and Sadowsky preamp with VTC. Beautiful sage green and morado board. Alder body, maple neck. 8.0 pounds on the nose which is really good for a 5 string jazz bass. The neck is a little wider (both ways) from my Roscoe so it's a little different feel. Roscoe 5 is 35" scale, 18mm spacing. The Sadowsky is a 34" scale, 19mm spaced bass. It's a great bass that I'm getting use to more and more.
  7. Yeah, the first album is the best from these guys. The new stuff is very different and "pop" to me. Not that it's bad to be "pop" but I just don't want to hear that from M5.
  8. I think those are great basses. I almost bought one.
  9. I use a Yamaha MODX6 for bass synth stuff in the cover band. 24K Magic, I wanna Dance With Somebody, things like that. Seems like playing bass synth/keys is almost a requirement these days. I know there are some that do it and do it well with pedals, but I do think there's a difference in the way you play the parts.
  10. Daughter had it last week. The rest of us are fine. Everyone vaccinated. Just bad luck I guess. Kids are elligable for their booster next week so we'll get that done at that time. We're staying masked - even though my school is lifting mask mandates as we have kids out and hospital full - as we hope to travel soon and don't want covid messing up our plans.
  11. I use a Yamaha MODX6 for my synth needs. :-)
  12. Is there a way to make this more 'iPhone' friendly?
  13. I still have this on my bookmarks. I do try to come and see what's up now and again. I will try to do so more often. I am growing tired of Facebook and am debating deleting my account there. Although I do like a couple groups there, there's just so much negativity. I tend to be on TalkBass and Instagram for my connections to my bass friends and community.
  14. Family is all fully vaccinated. Masks required at school vaccinated or not. No major side affects. Wondering why people are the way they are, selfish and ignorant.
