  1. Thanks for the info Myles, I will probably go ahead and do a full tube replacement in the near future. Thanks, Kevin
  2. Hey Myles, I blew out a tube on my DSL 100 Friday night at a gig. It was the second song and I didn't have a backup head so I ran direct and everthink was ok. My tech said it was the tube that runs the reverb section and that it was unusual. Have you heard of this before? The amp is only a month or two old and has been functioning great. Could it have been a bad tube from the factor? I was running the head into a Crate 4ohm 4x12 (waiting for the marshall cab to ship) and have had no problems with it before. Thanks for any info, Kevin
  3. Thanks for the info. I think I am going to give it a try this weekend, thought I'd get some feedback before I spent a few hours screwing around with it. One more thing, I have the POD 2.0 and floorboard, will the 2.0 still work or is there a significant difference between it and the XT? Thanks Myles, Kevin
  4. Myles, Have you heard of anyone useing a POD in the effects loop of a Marshall DSL JUST for the effects? (delays, reverbs, etc) Is it worth it to try it or will it totally screw up the tone? Kevin
  5. Thanks Myles, That really helps me a lot. Going to check out that THD 2x12 also. Thanks, Kevin
  6. sorry, I meant to ask if the resistance in the cab control how much wattage the amp delivers to the cab. I am not looking for ear shattering volume, I just want a better tone on stage and I am usually close to the drummer so I have to compete with that. Thanks
  7. Ok, Myles I've got a couple or three questions for you. I just got Marshall DSL 100 head last week, the shop had just sold 4 or 6 of the 4x12 cabs so I can't get a new cab for another week or 2. Therefore I have to use the 4x12 from my old Crate half stack. The cab is set at 4 ohms and I have the head set for 4 ohms but I thought the head would be louder than my old head. Does the resistance in the amp change how much wattage the head will deliver to the amp? Secondly, the level switch for the effects loop, does the switch need to be in or out for pedals? The manual doesn't say, I do notice a difference in volume but I can't tell which way it should be. And finally, which Marshall cab is the best to get to go with this head? I am really impressed with the clean tone and I get lots of headroom from the amp. I also like the distorted sound but I am not getting that infinite sustain feed back that I like to play with, any suggestions? Am I not driving the power tubes engough? Thanks, Kevin
