  1. Hi Myles, I haven't posted here a lot lately, but I have been lurking. I was hoping to get a little advice on my amp problem. I have some electronics experience, but admittedly, little with tube amps, so I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe( Schemo here ) that I recently noticed a drop in volume on. Thinking that my power tubes were on there last legs after two years of great service, I made a mental note to get some more. BUT ... before I did I was playing at a pretty low volume one night, and the volume started decreasing dramatically. As I was coming to grips with this, there was definitely a small crackle coming from the speaker. Before I could get to the stand by switch, there was a small feedback-like sound then, lights out. Hmmmmmmm. Not good. After procuring some new fuses I put in a know good set of power tubes, and changes the fuses. After warming the amp up and staking it out of standby, I get that low volume feedback sound for about a second, then the fuse blows. (whooooot, pop.) I'm thinking with the fuse blowing so fast I should be looking at the power section caps and x-former. No smells, burns or leaks on visual inspection, though I haven't pulled the chassis yet. Any ideas/advice? Thanks in advance!
  2. K, thanks Tedster. I had forgotten about those sessions. At first I thought you meant the last "All four" Beatles. The looks of that guitar make a lot more sense for the '90s!
  3. Never mind, I just looked at the site. When WAS that video made? He looks pretty long in the tooth in the studio picture.
  4. Are you sure that's the one from the last Beatles videos? That guitar loos pretty recent with what looks to be stacked buckers in the neck(The Dimarzio or Duncan ones with the blades in them). The extra toggle switch implies active electronics to me, but I guess it could be connected to a cap for extra tone shaping or something. When was that video made? '70, '71? Were the above technologies even available at that time?
