Corner, every one or two Fridays through Coronachella, my friend and I have been doing a rooftop happy hour concert for the neighbors on my street and across the canyon. I have to admit that I have hesitated posting about them here because COVID has my chops so rusty as to make me self-conscious. I have partially been using the concerts as a forced way to keep playing. Anyway...

It's a freewheeling affair, guided entirely by requests. I announce the concert in advance and give my email address, then right before we play, we read the requests. Between the two of us, one of us usually knows enough of a song to pull it off. Occasionally we crash and burn--yesterday it happened on Barracuda--but usually we find each other relatively quickly.

All the requests are rock. It's just not a "soul" crowd living here I guess. As such, here is "Come Together," from yesterday's concert. I notice a million things I will need to go back into the shed for before a "real" gig, but I thought it came out just well enough to grit my teeth and share. Enjoy.

I thought the public links were available to everyone, FB or not? But I can repost a different way. Hang tight.

Man, this makes me happy. Particularly your little McCoy Tyner quartal licks at the beginning of the solo and towards the end. Thanks for sharing, Josh.

I often do the housework on Saturday morning and when I do, I'm always looking for a soundtrack to drown out the vacuum cleaner. I've checked in to a couple of Josh's rooftop concerts and they are very nice indeed. Highly recommended.

cool So far I've somehow missed all of these until the YT video above. Stupid FB.

The great thing about music is that there's always something to learn. The frustrating thing about music is that there's always something to learn!

Hey Josh! Awesome - soulful. Really like the open stuff and the "coming together" after the Wurlitzer solo.

cool

OK, I'm feeling better about posting this now. Thanks for the positive feedback. I still cringe, but I will learn to listen past the bumps.

Full band show this weekend, Saturday at 4pm Pacific time for either 2 hours or until the cops come. One of the best groups I play with--the best, actually. I'll post propaganda here when I can.

Nice Josh! You guys are creative and adventurous. Sounds like an eclectic melding of influences shining though.
