How is time keeping typically done in a commercial facility? Time clock? Studio management software (and which one)?

How is it handled when the time of the scheduled session ends if there are no other bookings immediately after and the band wants a rough mix CD (15-20 minutes).

Thanks!

Matt, I would still charge them the time to give them a rough mix. Everything is on the clock. Up to you though. If you start doing this it will be expected. You might want to tell the folks before they start about how your operation works. I do that. Take notes of the various questions and come up with a solution for all of them before they hit the door.

Studio rules too.

There are some software packages out there for total scheduling of studio time, invoices, etc.

Studio Suite?? I think. Or.........

You can look at some of the previous threads in this forum to see the topic.

I may have asked the same question at some point in time. I'm building my studio at this time so I'm not in operation at this time.

Hope this helps a little.

George, thanks for the info. Unfortunately the link doesn't seem to really be working, but I gathered some info. Gracias!

Matt,
All sessions done in your facility should have a work order that includes hours worker, song titles, and what you did on those songs and any other time (copy time, back up time. StudioSuite is an excellent database for generating just about any form that you might need. Apogee puts out a prduct called Session Tools. While not nearly as comprehensive as StudioSuite it is a lot better than reinventing the wheel yourself.

Trust me.....

Session Tools doesn't seem to exist anymore.
