Best thing I ever did was quit smoking. I have music and my doctor to thank for quiting. I decided to go on the road as a solo player, which meant I was going to sing 5 or 6 nights a week. You can't smoke and do that. My doctor also told me that "You'll reach a point where the damage is irreversible". He couldn't say when that would be, only that it would. That was the scare I needed to stop. I also had the incentive that I wanted to sing more than I wanted to smoke, so that was it. That was over 20 years ago.
