Listen up ladies and gentlemen. The time has come to embrace the home recording revolution!! If you are feeling left out in the cold, out of the loop, dial-a-cliche, I can help you to get your ideas out in user-friendly fashion, on your PC!
I have the tools, the know-how and the patience to help you make solid, professional sounding recordings at home without anyone's assistance. I will supply you with INvaluable software, walk-through tutorials and I will take the time to explain whatever it is you want to know about recording, MIDI, hardware, software, and so forth. Email me if youre interested and live within a reasonable distance from me (I'm near Paramus) and we can discuss details.
Stop forking good money over to these recording studios who waste your time, spend little or no time mixing or mastering your songs properly, letting you walk out with a crap-sounding demo.
I will teach you how to use a sequencer, use VSTs (softsynths, drum modules, etc)), program/quantize MIDI, use softsamplers, create a mix, bounce to audio and into a useable file to burn to CD, and keep your audio files organized on your PC (very important!).
I'm a PC guy, so if you're a MAChead I can't help you as much (though I do have MAC-friendly software available), but otherwise I can really help you out bigtime. If all you want is to lay down some simple backing tracks for you to play guitar over, or if you want to create layered orchestral tracks and then lay down vocals and whatnot on top, I can help you.
It takes time and patience but it is the best thing for you, trust me. Before I knew all this stuff I was 'just' a guitarist with no clue what was going on in a studio. Now I use all the software and equipment found in studios everywhere and my creativity has expanded a million times over!! I want to pass this on to people who are trapped in a vicious cycle of co-dependence and helplessness. Let me empower you!
Oh, I will say this: the more powerful PC you have the better (obviously), but we work with what we have. I can advise you on what hardware you should think about purchasing, with quality and cost-effectiveness being the prime factors. Manufacturers are now catering to the home DAW (digital-audio workstation) owner so there's really never been a better time to pick up some solid gear for your setup. We can discuss all this later though. I'm extremely laid back and patient, and I also teach music so I'm pretty sure I can give you some inspiration one way or another.
Anyways, talk to you soon...

It's nice that you are offering to teach people all this wonderful stuff and all...But when you knock real studios you make a jackass out of yourself! Sure, you pipe some interface into your noisy PC in yer bedroom and start hacking the stuff up with your "warez" plugins and - Viola! A MASTERWORK! Like you can fit an actual band in yer bedroom? Like you have any kind of known acoustical (gee what's that?) environment? Like you have a separate control room and recording room with which to make live on the fly objective judgements?
I think not...
I hope those toilet flushes from yer sister in the bathroom don't pop up in the quiet parts of yer piano recordings! Oh, that's right... You cant FIT a real piano in yer glorius PC studio :^}
Home recording with PC based software is a GREAT THING... But it does not obviate or displace the need for a REAL STUDIO for many kinds of projects. Ever think of working WITH a real studio in conjunction with yer PC?
You can get the best of both - the quality tracks you will NEVER get in yer bedroom (studio)- and the time to experiment with FX and mix concepts and that elusive "perfect overdub" (at home).
Think about it...

while you're right, it doesn't seem that the poster was really slamming major studios that much.
he was just sharing a common (and right) intuition that one can do a lot with home recordings...
it's just silly that someone would (possibly) pay this guy to show them stuff they could easily learn themselves.

I do that all the time... I show people how to do things with their computers they could do themselves. It is amazing how mwny people just want to be shown what to do. I relate it to the people who buy cars and start them, never looking under the hood.
I work to train people to be more self sufficient. But, I some who just want me to "Fix It!" It's a living...
