hi all,

i'm thinking of doing some budget home recording on my computer.. i'll be recording vocals.. electric guitars.. and electronic drum set.. and after doing quite some research.. i concluded a good start is with..

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI card
Behringer UB802 mixing board
Shure SM58 mic

i have a soundblaster audigy card with creative 5.1 speakers on my computer now.. i'm wondering if it'll work together with the M-audio card.. ie using the existing card for playback/monitoring while recording with the M-audio card.. i know i should get studio monitors but like i said im on a budget.. so im just wondering if its a really bad idea.. or if it can work at all..

and if it does work do i send the
1) main from the mixing board to the line on the audigy and tape out to m-audio
2) main to m-audio and out from m-audio to audigy
3) main to m-audio and able to select internally line out audigy..

thanks for any advice you can give.. and comments on the basic setup are most welcome

you might want to post this on Phil O'Keefe's Project Studio Forum.
