A singer brought me a copy of REM's latest album and is wanting to have his vocals sound like the song "LOTUS".

There is a low voice under the lead vocal part that he thinks has some sort of effect on it...

To me it just sounds like Stype is singing low and really gritty...

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Hi Kris,
I am working down the hall today from Scott Litt, although I don't believe he produced the album that you are talking about, he did do all of their other albums, so I will ask him. Thanx for your patience.

From what I remember, I think it sounds as if there were several takes done in different styles, they probablly couldn't decide which one to use, so they just mixed 'em all together. I don't think there is any effect, I think it's just the way he's singing. I'll listen to it when I get home.

I still think Lotus could have been a hit.
