I just bought Cakewalk Pro audio 9, and I was wondering about the feasibility of using its audio capabilities to transfer old vinyls to digital format.

I know itīs a bit off topic, but all my CDs were stolen recently, together with my guitars and my recording equipment, and I spent all the insurance money (plus some extra bucks)in replacing you know what...;-)

Hi Jose,
I wish I could answer your question, but this is not my area of expertise, but I'm sure a nice fellow named Roger most likely knows, so I would repost this message to him.

I didn't think people stole stuff in Spain, just here in the U.S. (and Russia).

Cakewalk may or may not do what you want itself, but there are definitely DirectX plug-ins compatible with it that will do the job.

One to look at (among several others) is Arboretum Systems Ray Gun (list price is $99). There'll be a review of it in the April issue of EQ magazine....

The Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction system (Direct X Plug in) gives you a REAL nice Noise Reduction System, plus a Click and Pop, and Crackle Removal, a Vinyl Restoration Tool, and Clipped Peak Restoration for $399.00 list.

See it at http://www.sonicfoundry.com
