We're going to the NAMM show in Nashville this weekend. Any advice on gear to begin learning how to record and use our musical instruments using the PC? We have a high powered PC, amps, midi compatible keyboard, and subscriptions to Keyboard and Guitar Player (I know, I should know, but it's all so technical)No special software. We really just want to experiment and add to our technical knowledge as we enjoy our equipment. Thanks

Hey Anthony,
In all honesty I don't much about computer recording software, But I do about the NAMM show. It is really not the best place to 'learn' anything. It is really a showcase for companies to unveil the new stuff, next years model, the next big thing. There are always the standard booths and tons of demonstrations but NAMM isn't really for the public (Though a big public turnout seem to find thier way into the arena) Companies are targeting 'BUYERS' and music stores and then at night everyone parties. It's cool if you KNOW what you want to see, but idle rambling can get tiresome quick. You really won't have to go far since many of the 'computer' based booths and displays are usually close to each other, with the exception of Roland and Tascam. I would, if anything watch the demos. Always good demos going on, particularly in the software dept. The GEMINI booth is ALWAYS worth checking out if you like half-naked big breasted dancing women
Cheers.
