Hey everybody -- the US-428 ships with Cubasis VST for Windows, but there has been no Mac version. However, the following is good news for those use the 4298 with a Mac, as I believe it means the long-promised Mac Cubasis for the 428 will finally be available.

FYI Craig:

RETAIL VERSIONS OF CUBASIS WILL NOT WORK WITH
THE CONTROL SURFACE OF THE US-428!!!!!
Audio will work.. the control surface will not.

What WILL work:
1. The full version of Cubase VST 5
(avaible at a big discount from Steinberg
for US-428 owners.. about $200).

2. The BUNDLED Cubasis software that will
come with the US-428 SOON. The bundled
version was made just for the US-428
it will not boot without the US-428 installed
and on.

3. The control surface will also work with
Pro Tools Free...which IMHO is better
than the free verison of Cubasis.
(BTW: The bundled Cubasis that comes with
the US-428 is VERY basic... it does
not have all the features Craig's press
release mentions. Go to Tascam.com
for details).

Need more info... let me know..

<THE CONTROL SURFACE OF THE US-428!!!!!

I understand that, what I was trying to point out is that if a new Mac version is available, then the 428-specific version can't be far behind...my assumption was that Steinberg would introduce the "full" version before it would release a "subset" version. Yes? And therefore, that this announcement means the 428 version would be that much closer to reality.

Sorry for any lack of clarity in my original post.

It's "all good" Craig...

I just spend a lot of time
on the Tascam BBS with this product.

We have many people who will
go out and buy the retail version
of Cubasis expecting it to work...then
they get pissed...

Cheers!
