Well you guys sure led me right down THE MERRY PATH with this one!!!!!!!
The E-BOW works GREAT with the Fernandes guitar!!!!!!! This is ILL!!!!!!!
You can get them to enhance or fight each other!
When they fight you can get awesome volume/tone swells with attack times
determined by left hand technique (How hard you hammer-on/pull-off)!
Also get a strange BANJO/SITAR sound underneath a high squeal!
(Fernandes in HARMONIC MODE, again triggering notes with the left hand).
Spent a few days working on left hand techniques AND came up with a
NEW TUNE! THANKS!!!!!!!
Malpasoman, I also use a slide, but get an all-out grindey/extremly
distorted portamento type sound, I'll try the country licks!!!!!!!
(Are you talking single note lines or do you multitrack???????)
Tonewoods, here we go again! I'll try it with my jazz bass!!!!!!!

Hi Guys,
Ebow, yep-been using one about 20 years also, a few hints I use you may want to try. Combine the Ebox with a GOOD wah (Vox) very nice effect, now add a slide to it. Last week I had a guy in my studio doing a Progressive House thing that wanted to add live guitars to the mix. I laid down some phrases using various combo's of the above, cut and pasted-added some delay and it sounded GREAT, not to mention now he thinks he's 1 up'd the other DJ's with the uniqueness it created. Long live sustaaaaaaaaaaaain.

Has anyone tried hotrodding one to make it more effective? What do you think Craig can't we alter so it would work with 2 batteries or some sort of external power. Of 'course the wiring might be an obstacle but anyway...opionions...

I use one sometimes on my electric dulcimer. Unfortunately, the strings are too far apart to comfortably seat the E-bow, so I never really got as fluent as I would have liked (or maybe it's because I never practice...).
Loaned it to the guitarist for one song on the album, though.

When using a slide, try rolling your tone knob on the guitar all the way off. Also, try using a saturated tone, rather than clean, with a nice long reverb.
