Anyone have any info on some cool Pro audio Kits. I know of a couple for Pre's. I am looking to build a a tube EQ, Tube compressor or even another tube Pre. Actually what I REALLY want is a kit or schematic for a condensor mic. I scoured the web to no avail. I still use my "tube fuzz" and metronome that I built about 5 years ago from Criags book 'Electronic projects for musicians" Thanks Craig.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers

Well, you can build a LA-2 (tube compressor/limiter) at home:

I don't trust myself with a soldering gun and $600 of parts, though...
Along a similar line... Does anyone know where you can get instructions for creating an E-bow-like device? I'd think those little buggers would be pretty easy to make, although I can't justify spending $80 on a real one, since I don't know how much I'd actually use it.

Even if you dont plasy synths just think of the fun you'll have running audio tracks through the filters:-)

Hey Synaes, That would be great if you would fax that article. I just read partial article Tapeop. The fax # is 805-962-3844. That would truly be cool and very appreciated.
Thanks again.
Cheers.

Popmusic, No this isn't a joke...a vibrator will do about the same thing an ebow will. Daniel Ash has used one for years, but is an avid ebow user as well and now has moved more to Fernandes Sustainer pick ups. Believe me though, BUY the ebow, you will not regret it. I'm on my 3rd one now seeing as at many gigs over the years apparently other guitarists liked them enough to borrow mine and forget to return them (that's as nice as I can phrase that statement) The ebow is just a battery powered magnet that creates a string vibration verses a pick to create sound.

I'm getting great sounds out of my 'Doc Johnson's Anal Intruder Kit'
Seriously though, I wasn't sure about the Ebow either, but I use the damn thing all the time.

Another site with some DIY stuff:
http://www.davisound.com The owner seems pretty cool, and I've thought about trying to build his mic preamps. Thing is, I'm pretty much a novice with a soldering iron.
Best, --J
