I know it's late, but Myself and 2 others from here in The Yukon(canada) are considering coming to AES.
I am just starting to research it seriously today. Any tips on hotels, entrance fees, that sort of thing.
Any info much appreciated, the more obvious, the better!

Just came across this thread (I don't get out much lately). Am interested. Are significant others welcome? My wife's accompanying me to AES. We are planning on going to the Sony thing, but this is very intriguing. I've learned alot from you guys and gals, it would be fun to meet you.

Sorry it took so long to confirm, and yes I will be in attendance. Probably fashionably late, as I've got a session that day, but I'll be there!
Just to confirm: We're talking the 21st @ 9pm, yes?

Why so late? May I ask who chose the 9PM start time, and what was the reasoning?
I can't speak for anyone else, but after an 8 hour trade show, I'm kinda hungry - waiting until 9 PM means that with stragglers we may not sit down to eat until 9:30, or even 10.
The 9 PM start time will also make for a shorter evening, as people will be tired after the show, and some will have morning meetings before the show starts in Saturday - I know I do...
I'd like to propose that we move it up an hour to 8PM. What do y'all think about that idea?

Excellent, that would really help. I'd even go for 7 or 7:30. I have a feeling we're going to get into a lot of fun discussions and stuff, so the earlier we start, the more time we'll have for that. If we start too late, at least in my case it will be eat, then say "gotta go, breakfast meeting tomorrow..."

I'd also be happy if that were the case - the earlier, the better....

As it turns out the costs of a weekend trip to the BA from the Yukon are pushing it, so we have decided to plan a little wiser and aim at next years' AES.
It seems i could buy a nice microphone for the cost of hanging out and talking about them.(OH ,i know it would be much more fun than that!)
Enjoy guys.
Maby as a group, all who attend could give us "forum dudes" a low-down on the week end in the following weeks. I look forward to those threads!
Cheers

The 9pm hour was proposed by Max. I'll send him an email to propose an earlier start time (which I would prefer as well). I'll also swing by the restaurant and discuss the time change with his brother this week, maybe tomorrow.
A "Forum Boyz Band" jam session might be possible if we go earlier!! I'll see what I can arrange with Claudio.

I hope that's not the case as I was looking foreward to meeting you as well... just gonna have to see how this plays out... I'm pretty nervous right now as well, along with sad and scared and more, and I'm not flying from over seas.

Domestic flights are scheduled to resume tomorrow at noon. We'll all have to see how this unfolds. I'm assuming that AES is still on, but I'm not even sure about that at this point. Let's address this again in a few days, shall we?

If AES happens as scheduled, I hope that those who attend can provide a good bit of coverage on the web for those who aren't able to make it.

Folks...the Javits Center where AES was to be held is now being used as a makeshift triage center and morgue. Do you REALLY think that ten days from now, people will be happily skipping through the convention, looking at shiny new mics and other gadgets?
I am awaiting official word from the AES, and I have every expectation for them to do the right thing and cancel the show. It would be highly inappropriate to celebrate the industry's innovations at a time like this. Needless to say, even if the show is not officially canceled, I'm not aware of a single company planning to continue their exhibit there.
Sorry. Some things are more important than audio.
