Hi Craig,

We have a new G4 computer running Adobe Premier 5.1. We are using prerecorded WAV and AIF music files for most of the soundtrack in a video.

The problem we are having is that the audio mix sounds hot on some TV's and low on others.

Do you know what standard reference level we should be trying to attain? Any tips you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanx,

Dan Titus

Since no one is answering this, I'll give it a shot, but don't kill me if I'm wrong.

Broadcast standard reference level for audio is +8 VU.

You can limit the piss out of it, as most stations do, to prevent overmodulation into another band. In fact, you HAVE to, according to the FCC.

Sometimes, with the hard limiting, EQ can make the sound of some material, typically commercials, sound a LOT louder than the regular program content.
