I want to buy mic stands for recording drums, Voice, etc. I have been checking Proel and Quik Lok stands but they are weak, I have some Proel but I want to buy better ones.

I like K&M stands with tri-leg bases.
I've put together some bigger stands with GS bases (some german company) and K&M boom arms with the counter weight.
Lots of studios here in Nashvile use Atlas stands but I've never liked them. That big heavy bottom gives a false sense of security.
Of course the king of all mic stands is the Starbird (now built my Manley) They're like $1000 each !!! They've got about 30 of them over at Ocean Way. Perfect for orchestra or choir dates.
Good luck.

A few months ago, I saw a portable stand that that had a 2" diameter (like a speaker stand) and telescoped up to at least 15 feet. The thing was matte silver, aluminum and looked rugged as hell. Anybody have an idea who makes something like this?

Thanks,
Chris
