The latest figures that are coming through are that nearly 126,000 people have perished in this disaster. Water supplies are now contaminated and aide is needed urgently and some is now getting through. The appeal now is urgent so please do give as much as you can to help agencies in the area to alleviate suffering for the people that have survived.
The UN's relief co-ordinator Jan Egeland said the $2bn in aid promised so far, pledged by 40 countries, was more than all the donations made to the UN's other humanitarian appeals in 2004 put together.
Maybe it can be eliminated altogether, as most people are aware by now the massive death catastrophe that has occurred.
