Hey guys,

Just thought I'd give y'all a heads up that Disc Makers, a leading CD manufacturer/duplicator, is now offering 50% of their regular duplication prices if you are donating proceeds from your CD to tsunami relief!

They say the offer expires Feb. 28th, and FoF may not have enough songs for a compilation by then, but in case this is something being planned, you might want to check it out and/or call them and see if you can get the deadline extended.

Here's the link for more info:
http://www.discmakers.com/cdrom/tsunami_relief.asp

Of course if anyone else is releasing a CD and would like to donate at least 50% this would apply to them too.

Thanks for the tip, Lee!

Disc Makers is a very reliable company which produces top quality CDs and accompanying art. I've released two CDs in the past using their manufacturing, printing, and assembly.

However, I'd be willing to bet that half-price at Disc Makers is still more expensive than the regular prices at a couple other manufacturers with which I'm familiar.

If any of these projects makes it to the CD manufacturing phase, please contact me and I'll help research a less expensive manufacturer, if one can be found. \:\)

That would be helpful info regardless, Bunny. There's a Kansas City gang organizing something too.

Well, for starters, right off the top of my head, there's Americ Disc. They've always had very competitive pricing on their manufacturing. I'm not sure if they have a tsunami relief special going, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

I dunno Bunny, last I checked, Disc Makers charged a couple of hundred dollars more than your average cheaper competitor but I didn't think it was enough of a difference that 50% wouldn't put them way under the competition.

If I'm wrong, I'd sure like to know who all these dirt cheap disc duplicators are! And I don't mean CDR duplication.

I'm just trying to help out by offering alternative suggestions. Disc Makers is usually very expensive. And I never said anything about "all these dirt cheap disc duplicators." I said I know of "a couple" other manufacturers that might be less expensive than Disc Makers, even at 50% off. I left a link to one of those companies above. Americ Disc isn't a CDR duplicator, BTW. They make real CDs. \:\)

That's cool... I hope you didn't think I was being argumentative Bunny, I agree it's a good thing to check out all the possibilities. I guess I just wasn't aware that Disc Makers was SO much more expensive that even a 50% discount wouldn't put them ahead of their competitors! Will have to look into some of these other guys further.

Cool, Lee. And it is possible that Disc Makers has lowered their duping prices considerably in recent years. I haven't used them since the late '90s, so I can't say for sure. I'm just basing my comments on my own past experiences with them, and offering an alternative.

I think it's a good thing that you posted this thread here!

Hey... (that's an attention getter on the forum )

I mentioned this earlier when musing about our ability to pull off 8 or 10 numbers of relative quality that we could burn.

Sitting by the cash box with a promo declaring our aim it gives people something tangible to show for their efforts, contributions thoughts etc..
Something to recall their connection to it all and that they cared enough to do something.

This is actually a great offer.

IMO

Gone for the next few days....
Gave that poem to a keyboardist friend to try. I'll post it next week for you guys to listen to.

Take care

Couldn't agree more. Hell, two weeks ago NO threads were being posted here so it's great to see all the activity \:D
