The Internet recording studio is upon us. With Rocket Network, you can actually put together a "live" recording session online, collaborating with other musicians from the comfort of your home studio, project studio, dungeon, or where ever else you happen to be.
Need a guitar solo or some drum loops? Now you can find a living, breathing musician to work with, maybe just for the fun of it, or maybe in exchange for a few tasty keyboard licks. Sure beats pulling ideas off a commercial CD.
Learn more by visiting Rocket at http://www.rocketnetwork.com
This forum will focus on the issues that come up with Internet sharing. Topics like compatibility (you're a Steinberg Cubase user, but your collaborator is into Emagic Logic); Preparing files for sharing (balancing file size and upload speed); sharing etiquette, and anything else we can think of.
So post away. I'm especially interested in hearing from veteran Rocket users about your experiences in online sharing.

Way cool, it's about time music player got something like this going. Sadly though, I don't think I will be able to participate. I tried logging onto the Rocket network many moons ago with their free downloadable software but never was able to configure it correctly. I never once was able to login to the network, even with the help of a Rocke network tech.
Oh well, glad to see this here, maybe one day I'll get it setup and working and can join you all.

I went through & did all the steps. It all works. The problem is I know DP best & Cubase next. DP is not compatible & the Cubase I have is 3.5, an older version without rocket. The free Cubase is for PC only. So I downloaded the free Logic. It works. I downloaded one of the public sessions & it played. But I'm so unfamiliar to it I don't know where to start as to recording, etc.. I really don't want to learn another software nor do I want to spring for a new Cubase with rocket just to do this. I have a friend that has Cubase 4.0. Does it have Rocket? Any advice?

Well, well, well that looks fun. I recall reading about Rocket a few years back but it seemed at best hopeful. But to see it creep in here is a good sign. I want in. I'll have to do my homework but I'll be back.

Cubase 5.0 Mac is the first Mac version with Rocket Power (There were some beta versions, but they no longer function).
There is a Cubasis for mac (less expensive, but still not free).

From what I understand, Rocket continues to evolve. It seemed pretty clunky a few years ago, but now people are using it successfully. I can hardly wait to get started -- it would save me big $$ on airfare to Germany for recording if the process works out!

Wow!
What a great forum.
This is some exciting stuff.
Whats the status with Protools and Rocket? Can I swap sessions with other PT users?

Pro Tools with Rocket status is .... really fun to test
It is going to be a great implementation of Rocket technology.
However, track interchange with other applications was not implemented. It is our stated company goal to make that happen.... but some times it just does not go that way for us. We are at the mercy of the DAW manfactuers.
Mix has a good article about PT and Rocket ... But I cant seem to find it on their site ..... dang .....
