Please can anyone help! I have just volunteered to be the Sound guy, for a local Charity Group. They have a reasonable setup, which includes, A mini Disk, Radio Mics, A Good Amp and Speakers, and Finally a Behringer UB2222FX PRo Mixing desk. I have downloaded the manual from the Web Site for the Desk, and its pretty usefull up to a point. Can anyone help with a general set up of this desk? any help much appreciated.
Thanks!
Nigel.

Hi Nigel, and welcome aboard.
The UB2222FX is a VERY basic desk. There's not a lot to know. Mabee you could explain what your job will be, your experience level, and how far you've gotten so far. By 'radio mics', do you mean wireless mics with a receiver? Do you know how things connect together? Are you familiar with signal flow from mic to speakers? How about the desk's knobs/sliders?
What do you mean by a general setup? Here's an example. Normally, mics plug into the XLR inputs of a "channel". I believe that desk has 8 or 16 mic input channels. Look for a channel switch that says "mic/line". If it's there, set it to "mic". Altering the 'sound' of a mic in done there, using level and "EQ"(tone)knobs/sliders; much like your stereo. Signal is then routed internally to the L/R "Main Out" faders(which control the overall mix of all mics), then to the L/R "Main Out" jacks in the rear. These connect to the "L/R input jacks" of the power amp via coaxial, shielded(guitar-type) wires. The power amp's "L/R speaker" jacks then connect to the speakers. All wire must be 'shielded', except for the speaker wires. Regular zipcord, #14 guage or heavier, is acceptable there. This is a generic setup, and 'very' basic. Forgive my lack of specifics, but I'm not sure what you already know, and automatically assume it's nothing.
One final thought. Behringer products are NOT physically built for the long haul, so be gentle with it.
Best, Paul
