Would/could someone be kind enough to recommend a microphone for this female vocalist.

Considering Samson C01U, SP B1 or C1, SM58, SM57 etc. ?
Is a condenser a needed improvement over a dynamic?

Hi Ann,

I have little or no trouble recording the female voice with either condenser or dynamic mics, but a lot of people recomend a 'ribbon' mic, as it has a more favorable response. Look at, and audition if possible, some of the Royer models. They're kinda pricey, but a good investment in your future. Good luck, Paul

Here are a couple of more recent samples of female voice:

I was thinking of trying the AKG C535EB
Someone said that there is a good Shure condenser in this price range ($150-$300) as well.
Any suggestions are welcome.
This is for hand held live perfomances.

Thanks.
