I have a problem. A Baldwin electric grand piano keeps jumping up and down in level but only on the headphone and direct outs. THe speakers in the piano function normally. It runs through a CB1 DI and then goes directly into a Mackie 32x8. Phantom power is on in the eight channels the piano comes in on.
Could phantom power be passing through a direct box to the piano and shorting a couple of resistors?
Signal path is as follows: Board -xlr-CB1-ts-piano
I just spent 900 getting the piano fixed and it still is doing it.
thanks all

In theory, no, phantom power will not pass through the DI. That said, try another DI, just in case something is incorrectly wired inside, connecting phantom to the input.
