Hi Everybody, Let's put together a gig tool kit. Here's my list, write and let me know what you would add or subtract.

My musician gig box has: (in priority)
Spare picks Spare strings Peg winder Heavy duty diagonal pliers (string cutter) Spare bottleneck slides Outlet checker and/or Neon AC tester Fluke "Volt-Alert" pen (amp polarity checker) Mini-maglite Drafting tape (for attaching picks to mic stand) Aspirin Leatherman Multi-tool (pliers, screwdriver, knife, etc.) Band-Aid strips J&J First Aid Cream Electrical tape 120V Fuse assortment Spare mic clip Polishing cloth Black sharpie markers Spare cable ties Fake Groucho Marx nose Roy Orbison sun glasses ...all in study but small tackle box with my name on it...

Ok, I will add to it:
Flashlight.
Batteries of all sizes & shapes.
Electrical tape.
Electrical Pliers/Needle nose.
Spares of all the different types of connectors you may have. If you have Speakon connectors, make sure you have a small screwdriver/hex wrench that is the proper size to tighten/loosen the set screws inside. db meter.
Voltage meter.
Circuit tester.
Cheater plug (shhhh!).
Spare direct box.
Spare par can bulbs/rack bulbs/mixing board bulbs.
Cable tester.
Hum eliminator box.
Spare fuses for every component that has one.
A little coil of wire.
Spare mic clips.
Multi plug wall wart.

Now for sound (persons) kits (there are two): The first is: (hired gun stuff)
Sennheiser HD-25 headphones (PFL monitoring in loud venues) SPL meter
The second is: (In priority)
Mini-maglite Black 2" gaffers tape (not "DUCT" tape) Many sharpie markers 1" White Artists tape (a.k.a. board tape) Disposable ear plugs or cotton balls aspirin Every audio adapter known to mankind direct boxes (active and passive) In-line XLR polarity flips In-line XLR pads (6dB and 20dB) Racheting screwdriver with alot of different tips Leatherman multi-tool Outlet checker and/or Neon AC tester Fluke Volt Alert pen Triplett Breaker Sniff-It Spare mic clips (shure and clothes-pin types) Spare cable ties Gold Bond or other Baby Powder (prevents Gig-Butt) All kinds of speaker adapters (phone, banana, speakon, etc.) Spare cassette tape (for board mix taping) Eclectic collection of Compact Discs (for setup and breaks) Needlenose and diagonal pliers Pocket Digital Multi-meter 1/2" paint brush (dusting console, rack knobs) WD-40 and a shop rag (removes duct tape residue from cables) All colors of electrical tape ... all this in a large tackle box...
Other outsidebox necessities are:
A "Hot Box" full of electrical stuff for distro tap-ins A "gig rig" automotive/truck repair box And several rubbermade totes containing AC stage box/cables,XLR cables,Phone cables, and speaker cables
