I'm looking to buy a good rack effects processor over the summer, I don't know too much about them, what brands are good? What features do I need to look for? etc...Thanks for any help!

well to make along story short, I use a roland gp-16 and an alesis quadraverd for rack stuff along with assorted pedals and I am very happy my gp-16 has a foot controller, which I understand are hard to come by but is very effective for those "pink floydish" type of tunes and tunes you need good quality effects on the cheap as far as the quadraverb, is is a good quality reverb chorus echo type of unit definiately check it out!!!1

If you are using the effects on instrument to amp chains, then just about anything your creative juices can find is acceptable.

For sound system use, the bar is raised a bit and there is a line between toys and pro gear that can be fairly well defined around $350 street price. The popular pro brands are Yamaha, Lexicon, and T.C. Electronics.
