Yesterday, before seeing a great concert, I picked up my SDE-3000 delay unit from the shop where I had left it for repairs. The output was noisy and I couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I brought it in (they require a $25 deposit) and after a few weeks heard from the tech that he had no idea what was wrong and would send it to Roland so they could look at it. This was January 9th. I knew this would take a while so I let 4 months go by before pestering the local tech on the status of my unit. He called back the next day saying he forgot to send the unit to Roland and it was sitting there next to him and he would get it out the next day.

Well, it finally came back (Roland said they could not find the problem - no charge) and I picked it up yesterday, over 6 months after I dropped it off because of their error. They wanted to charge me an extra $5 for postage. I said no way, if they wanted to treat their customers right, they should refund my $25 deposit for making me wait so long for a repair that was not even done. The guy at the counter called the store owner, and with a few call back and forth, they offered to drop the additional $5. I took my delay and told them I would never be back. It's not about the money, if I screw up in the studio, I make sure the client knows how much I value their business.

Was I out of line on this one?

You are right, you should not have been treated this way, especially after they "forgot" to do the job right in the first place.

Customer service is often an oxymoron these days. Avoid this place and look for a business that is responsible and responsive. This place may have gotten $25.00 out of you, but just think of all the lost potential income because of their short-sightedness?

I agree with the previous poster: tell your friends about this place. Conversely, if you find an establishment that treats you well, spread the word.

Hey David,

Sorry to hear of your troubles, nothing gets my goat more than poor service, nothing.

You know that old saying ' good help is hard to find'.. That has been ringing true so much for me the last few years as I shop places or go out to dinner with my wife.

In todays market, competiton is so stiff that the one premise that will pre-vail for me in my business dealings is polite attentive customer service. That makes it or breaks it for me often. Most place seem to hire the incompentent or un-motivated personell. (Who would be motivated for $7 hr.) Sometimes when you get management involved it gets even worse!

Those clowns made an error and had a clear chance to 'do right' by you. Amazing what thier greed for $25 just bought them.

Cheers.
