I have been writing songs for as long as I can remember. I now have over 50, 42 copyrighted. Since copyrighted, I have recieved info on different record companies. I sent a few songs into the one I had heard of: Hilltop Records. They sent me a "contract" to have one of my songs "screened". I would like to know if this is fishy or if I should persue the screening process. Any advice would be very appreciated!

Before signing anything, it's always best to consult with an entertainment attorney...

Wait a minute, your telling me that the process of getting your songs copyrighted got you a record companies attention. Or did you get there attention another way?

Hilltop and the others get your name and address from a mailing list of people that have recently sent stuff in to be copyrighted.

http://www.geocities.com/songshark/ has more info on this type of thing.
