It's a common thing with sound guys. Not all, but many.
They think you, the musician, are there to serve them. They don't get that their PA systems are supposed to provide sonic support for the band. You'll hear comments like "too many players think it's still Woodstock, they don't understand the requirements of modern audio" and other BS.
I've known quite a few good sound guys in my time. They accomodate the band and still manage to get a good monitor mix AND good FOH mix. They are the ones who truly know their craft. Wish more were like that.
