Heard Deep Purple last night, and I gotta say that Ian Paice still rocks big time! I especially dug the snare work that wasn't all 4-on-the-floor stuff. He seems to be in very good shape for however old he is. \:D

He's one of the best. He comes from a time when rockers could still swing (like Mitch Mitchell and Carl Palmer and others), and like them he knows how to be exciting.

Never heard more punch, musicality and cleverness at the same time in a rock drummer. My favourite rock drummer ever.

Second favorite for rock. I still like Carl Palmer best.

For all other catagories: Akira Jimbo first, then Steve Gadd.
