Sure, but it is the perfect companion to the $950.00 neck, the 85.00 strapknobs and the $235.00 pots.

A matched set, one might say.
Definitely appears to be a good way to milk every penny from the vintage craze.
An astute seller. \:\)

Poor Thunderbird: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-Epiphone-Elit...1QQcmdZViewItem

They say you can replace the neck? Isn't it a neck-through-body deal?

An Epiphone Thunderbird has a bolt-on neck, and brand new run $400 out of MF.

A Gibson Thunderbird is neck-through and runs $1670.

The Epiphone Elitest line is built like the Gibson. It is a neck through (and costs more than the usual Epi bolt-on models CLICK )

If you could get it for $100 or less you could route a neck pocket and put a bolt-on or set-in neck. The fingerboard looks salvagable as well.

Basshappi- that's an idea- turn it into an Entwistle style Thundercaster with a Fender neck... too bad I can't do woodworking.

Hand made 5-string bass?
http://cgi.ebay.com/5-String-Fretless-Ba...1QQcmdZViewItem
Just because it doesn't have the label on the headstock doesn't mean it's a custom, hand-made bass. Looks like a Yamaha to me. Still, at that price, not a bad deal.

The original Travis Bean aluminum neck basses were impossible to keep in tune....the necks were extremely sensitive to temperature changes.

Aluminum is not a heavy metal.

What about steel?

Or how about.....Plutonium!

And on the headstock he even used those stick-on letters to label three of the strings.
How 60s is that? \:D

Seriously, how can you authenticate such an item? They don't date-stamp them.

Who's driving the market so hard that it will be worth that much? A******s like this guy!

OK, now I have two white-black-white Fender Jazz pickguards around here somewhere. They might even be yellowed up a bit. I can certainly use my Dremel to make some holes for the finger rest.

I can prove that they came off a '65 Jazz about as much as this jackhole can.

Difference is, you can have mine for substantially less. Like free.
